There is nothing that appeals to the eye and the
appetite as a carefully arranged display of fresh bakery products. Few
passerbys will fail to gaze longingly upon foodstuff temptingly displayed.
This type of bakery products is to be seen in the
display window of the City Bakery which is owned and operated by Earl
Harris.
Harris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Harris of the
Shive community. Both Hamilton county pioneers. His mother was the former
Nora Spiney [or Spivey?--ew] of Indian Gap.
Mrs. Earl Harris is the daughter of B. F. White, a first citizen of the
county. Both Mr. and Mrs. White were born on this county.
Earl Harris has operated bakeries in Stephenville and
Lometa before coming her to buy the City Bakery. He says he is here to
stay and is always to be found at his bakery. His business is rapidly
increasing and he is making an effort to give his patrons new and better
bakery goods. He is particularly interested in handling special orders for
parties, such as light rolls, bridal and anniversary cakes and patties.
The Historical and Trade Expansion Edition of the News
would like to suggest to its home makers and readers to save themselves
during the heat of the summer and let the City Bakery do their baking.
