WILLIAM M. "BILL" LEMMONS, 

12 February, 1863 -- 1944

Born in Angelina County, TX, to William and Sarah Lemmons, William M. "Bill" Lemmons, came to Hamilton County, TX, in 1905 to work on the Cotton Ranch near Pottsville.  In 1910 Bill began working in the Sheriff's Office and by 1914, Lemmons was elected Hamilton County Sheriff, an office he held until 1926.

On January 1, 1881, William M. Lemmons married Miss Josie Jeanes, daughter of Warren and Sarah Jeanes.  They were the parents of three children--William Arthur, Bertha, and Ada.  Josie died in 1933 and on 25 September, 1940, William  married Miss Alice McGarvey.

In 1932 William became mayor of Hamilton, a position which he still held in June, 1938.
