LANCING POST OFFICE opened 4 December, 1886, with Alice Valliant as the post mistress. Robert M. Brandon was appointed postmaster at Lancing on 27 January, 1888. On 30 September, 1903, Lancing Post Office closed and the mail was moved to Hamilton. Lancing was between Hamilton and Jonesboro--perhaps at Whiteway.  From childhood I recall a tiny building at Whiteway which had the word "Post Office" above the door.
