IRELAND SCHOOL
In 1936 Ireland School was a county line school
district. While the village of Ireland as well as the Ireland
School were in Coryell County, over half of the school district was in Hamilton County and
more than half of the students of Ireland
School resided in Hamilton County. The 1936 faculty included, M.
L. Bannister, superintendent; Dwight Kennedy, principal; Lola
Campbell, Mrs. Sybil O’Brien, Lila Barbee, Emma V. Cotton, and Mrs.
P. H. Adams.
Tommie Lorraine Gordon in Ireland, Hamilton
Co. teaching for one year? She also taught two years at Liberty,
Coryell Co. Problem is, I don't know for which years she taught.
Lorraine was the youngest child of Thomas Tolson Gordon, II and Nora
Burney. Tommie graduated Baylor University in 1936, but taught at
Ireland before then. --From Ric Gordon
