He has served as pastor at Center Point, South Plain,
Leuders, Andrews, and Seagraves. He is now pastor of the First Baptist
Church, Rochester, TX.
Claude Knight, was the Church Treasurer while Brother Clayton was
pastor at Coryell. Ewel Strickland and Winifred Clemmons were elected and
ordained deacons. The church voted to give ten percent of their income to
the Cooperative Program.
Brother I. J. Lloyd of Sunray, Texas, conducted the revival in 1938.
During Brother Clayton’s pastorate the following were received by
baptism:
James H. Harkins, Katherine Fields, Dora Lee Fields,
Curt Bennett, Jr., Lupin Bennett, Wayman Merritt, Mary Frances Merritt,
Bud Merritt, Wayne Garland Davis,
Melvin Davis, Lou Ellen Dodgion, Raymond Buckner, Mae
Bunch.

Brother Floyd began working on the railroad in 1916 and continued until
1934 when he was called to preach. He was ordained by East Avenue Baptist
Church, of Austin. He preached
