Mr. J. V. Castleberry, Ordinary, Lampkin, Georgia.

Dear Sir: This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 21st inst. addressed to my Father, Mr. C.S. Johnston, regarding the war record of one Dr. H. A. J. Snellings, who went from Stewart County to the War in 1864, in Company "C" 11th. Regiment, 4th Brigade, Georgia Malitia, his postoffice being Bladen Creek. Also war record of George W. Bell and Mathison Bell.

I regret to advise that my Father, Mr. Johnston, is quite feeble in health, having been confined to his bed for about five months, and consequently not as alert in mind as heretofore.

However, he says he knew the above mentioned gentlemen, but is unable to recall any of their war record. We regret this sincerely, as we would like to know that their widows were in position to receive the pensions, which no doubt they need, or otherwise would not have made application for same.

Yours very truly, Fannie (Johnston) de Montmolliu
