Marion
Graves owned the salon down in the basement on the corner. Believe Mr.
Williams said Double O. Miller worked there for a time. In the back was
the poker room. They played poker and wouldn’t see daylight for a week
except when they came out from necessity. They ate down there, cooked on
an open fire on the dirt floor and let the smoke go where it would.
Once old Double O. Brought in a wagon load of dried buffalo meat. They
had it down there and would cook some of it. He said he didn’t like it
as well as beef, was too coarse. Somebody brought the meat in from the
west. They used to bring in a lot of it in the fall and sold it around.
