FIRST TRIP TO DALLAS

One time he and John Bond went to Dallas, his first time there. Think he said they stayed at the old St. George Hotel, with stairs and no elevators. They went out to a variety show. The girls came out in a crowd. They would buy drinks for them with a dollar, but there was nothing doing.

They, the boys, were still young, and they got too much liquor, and were about to get quarrelsome, and they pay in advance because they had no baggage. He told them to turn out the light when they went to bed. Mr. Williams went to bed first because he didn’t want the job of turning off the light. Neither had ever done that. Bond blew a long time and said that the candle was inside glass, and they let it burn all night.

Chief Quanah Parker and his father-in-law, Red Cloud were more bold and when in a Dallas hotel blew out the light, the gas light, and were found unconscious, and the latter died.
