SCARED A DRUMMER
Mr. Williams said he used to work in the hotel office there. He had a
counter with cigars and candy. He kept a collection of pistols and among
them had a "dragoon," a large flintlock affair about as long as
your arm. One night he was tinkering with it. A traveling man was sitting
on the veranda and the gun accidentally went off and hit a post and
knocked splinters all over the traveling man, who thought someone was
cracking down on him.
