COOK SHOOTS THE FRENCHMAN

Lusen, the Frenchman, had a store on the square, west side probably had a beautiful daughter helping, and ran a "kino" game. Mrs. Williams said that Mr. Williams, before their marriage "flew at the girl." He did not deny it. This man was the one that Josh Cook, just after he bid in the catch, had a quarrel with, and he fired, the Frenchman fell, and Cook thought he had killed him, and left the country for years to find later that the Frenchman wasn’t hurt at all.

Mr. Williams said he did not like "kino" much, preferred poker. Said that he and others were playing poker in the woods near the cemetery when the storm came, the cyclone that killed Mrs. Dolloff out in the country and "Hous’ as a baby lost his arm. That the storm created a stir in town but the poker players in the woods didn’t know it was a cyclone. Were intent on their game.

(Old Doctor Wilson was sitting on the board walk on saloon row and refused to get up when people rushed by on the way to storm cellars, finally said, "that would be one way to get out of this ... town!"
