AMANDA ELIZABETH (SPARKS) (O'HAIR)
ROGERS
AMANDA ELIZABETH SPARKS was born 11 Sept
1837 in Nacogdoches, TX and died
24 Nov 1912 in Hamilton Co. TX.
Her parents were Steven Franklin Sparks and
Emily Beauchamp Whitaker.
Amanda Elizabeth Sparks first married J.
O’Hair 10 Aug., 1856. They had two daughters, Alice and Clara.
Apparently, J. O’Hair died because Amanda was listed as a widow when she
married Henry Rogers on 18 Aug 1863.
Henry Rogers b. 1815, was the son of
Everett Rogers and spouse unknown. Amanda (Sparks) (O’Hair) and Henry
Rogers had one son, James Franklin Rogers b. 10 May 1864 in Bosqueville,
McLennan Co., TX, and died 18 Sept 1929 in Abilene, Taylor Co., TX. A
direct descendent of James Franklin Rogers is Mary Helen Walton Baxter,
who grew up in Carlton, TX.
Henry Rogers b. 1815 was the brother of my
gr-gr grandfather, Samuel Everett Rogers, who is buried there in the field
off FM 2823.
I am quite certain that Alma Williams is
also buried near the grave of Amanda Elizabeth Sparks O’Hair. She would
be the granddaughter of Amanda and daughter of Amanda’s daughter, Clara,
whose father was J. O’Hair. Clara O’Hair married Samuel J. (Doc)
Williams.
