BENNETT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH

BENNETT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH at Center City
participated in the Hamilton County Baptist Association
before Center City became part of Mills County. Bennett
Creek Baptist Church was one of the founding member churches of the Hamilton
County Baptist Association on 4 July, 1877. Bennett Creek was in
Hamilton County until 1887.

Messengers to the annual association meeting in 1886 were E. C.
Kellogg, H. B. Ward, and J. P. Grundy.
In 1887 a strip of land from Sims Creek seven miles south of Center
City to McGirk was transferred to Mills County by the Hamilton
County of Commissioners in an effort to retain the town of Hamilton
as the county seat of Hamilton County. On 7 September, 1889, Bennett
Creek Baptist Church was given a letter of dismissal from Hamilton
County Baptist Association to Mills County Baptist Association.
