Samuel Owen Beene, 64, died in an Evant nursing home on
Friday, March 14, following an extended illness. Funeral services were
held at the Larence-Ricks Funeral Home Chapel in Teague on Monday, March
17. Alvin Armstrong officiated. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. Evant
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Beene was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Freestone County,
Texas. He was the son of the late George and Sarah Beene. On April 24,
1970, he married Bonnie Juanell Gotcher. She preceded him in death on
Feb. 15, 1986. Mr. Beene was a butcher and meat cutter. He was a member
of the Church of Christ in Evant.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Ann Parmer of
Dallas, and Ethel Sue Guantt of Mt. Bellview; a son, Samuel Allen Beene
of Fairfield; four sisters, Ida Mae Dickerson of Edgemont, Ark., Delia
Marie Fowler of Big Lake, Hattie Irene Armstrong of Mexia, and Clara
Alta Coone of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Emory Autrey Beene of Rankin;
and 11 grandchildren.
