GYMNASIUM PLANS GO SLOWLY FORWARD

_____

Hamilton High School may have a gymnasium by next fall; it may be later, but it is almost certain that a gym will be built before long.  The school board has bought plans, and steps are being taken to finance the project through the Government.

This building be placed behind the high school building and close to it.  It will be built of rock, have a large hardwood floor, an oval roof, thus making a structure that will be attractive as well as useful.

According to the plans Hamilton will have one of the best gymnasiums in Central Texas when it is complete.  A large sized basketball court will be provided for, seats for over seven hundred spectators will be built in, and ample locker space for both boys and girls will be furnished in the dressing room.  Toilets, hot and cold showers, gas heat, and a good lighting system will be included.

A gymnasium is one building Hamilton has been needing for a long time; the people of this town are ready for it; the boys and girls have been ready for it for years; so it will be built as soon as the school board can see its way clear to get the job done.  It will not only be an added attraction for Hamilton to use in bringing people in from surrounding districts.  It will increase the enrollment of Hamilton High School.  It will furnish a central point for community gatherings where basketball and other games may be played.  It will bring many people in to Hamilton many times more often than they come now.  In short, it will be of social, educational, and healthful benefit to the school children of Hamilton and Hamilton County, and will be a business and asset to the business men of Hamilton
