FAIRY INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES
We have
some other pupils who deserve special not for work done outside of regular
studies and they are; Ruth Trimmier, Wilma Shepherd, Wyvonne Arrant,
Francis Cable, Juanita Simpson and Edward Grimes. These pupils tried out
for spelling. We were not fortunate enough to place in the county but we
fell like we did some good by trying and we mean to do better next year.
We were handicapped this year on account of illness. (It is so very easy
to make excuses when we lose).
Another
group of children that should be given credit for hard work is the picture
memory team—Edward Grimes and Myrtle Duncan. These two pupils certainly
worked diligently but were eliminated on account of not having enough
members on the team. Edward Grimes made a grade of 96 and Myrtle Duncan
89, so the team made a grade of 92 ˝, which was second in the county.
Odom
Russell, Mildred Shepherd and Katharyne Cunningham worked faithfully on
their declamations. Katharyne won second place.
We are
very proud of our pupils even though they did not carry over all first
places. We feel like they were benefited as well as those who did. The
community is interested in any outside work we do, and always ready to
join with the school in any way they can help.
