KIWANIS FIELD

Across the Fence

By Arvord Abernethy

If you want to see something else that is nice about Hamilton just go up to the Kiwanis Field some night and watch a ball game. The Kiwanis Club, along with others, have provided us with one of the best fields I have seen anywhere.

We live within hearing distance of the field and can tell that there is a lot of excitement going on up there. There is something that can cause you to do more than listen to the crowd. Like the other night; I got a telephone call and a voice said, “Granddaddy, this is Allyson, wouldn’t you like to come up and see play ball tonight?

Of course I went and enjoyed every minute of it. Allyson played on the Hamilton National Bank team; they won that night and also first place for the season. The Lion’s Club had sponsored the girl’s softball league.

After the game, I invited the whole Abernethy brood up to the house for ice cream.

As I said before, if you want to see something else that is real good about Hamilton, go up and see a Little League ball game at Kiwanis Field.
