CLEONE (ROBINSON)

ACROSS
THE FENCE

If
you saw a picture of Cupid shooting his arrow during the Valentine
season just passed and thought that it was just a fairy tale, you had
better forget it. You ask Morris Dean or Cleone Koen and they will both
tell you that it is a reality. They were married on Valentine’s Day at
First
Baptist
Church
in
Kerrville
by the pastor, Rev. Ernest Wells in the presence of some relatives and
friends.
Cleone
had recently moved to
Kerrville
to be near one of her daughters, but Cupid’s arrow had already struck
its target. We are glad to have her back in
Hamilton
where she has already found her place of service in community and church
life. The Deans are living at 423 S. Williams, and we wish them many
years of much happiness.
According
to the Texas Almanac,
Hamilton
County
averages receiving 2 inches of rain in January and 2.25 inches in
February making a total of 4.25 inches. The Soil Conservation Service
records show that the total should be 3.85 inches for the two months.
This is being written one day before February is over, and rain is in
the forecast, but the rainfall so far this year is about 1.60 inches,
far short of the normal amount.
The
showers have kept the surface soil moist, but with the hot, dry summer
last year, and not much rainfall this winter, there is not much
underground season. Seeps are not running, and most stock tanks are
either very low or completely dry. But we have had years like this
before and have always lived through them
