ALBERT & JEAN BEACH
Across
the Fence

“The
grass is always greener in the other fellow’s yard.” That is an old
saying that we have all found to be true in so many ways and at so many
times.
I’m
proud of our yard, and there are many in town that are prettier than
ours, but there is one yard that I turn my head and look at every time I
pass, and that is the yard of Albert and Jean Beach at 201 S. Pecan.
Albert may call it Jean’s yard as she is the only one you usually see
out working in it. It is always so neatly cut and trimmed.
The best
way to view the yard is from
Leslie Street
which runs along the north side of their home, which is about a block
east of the First National Bank. The lawn at the back of the house
gracefully slopes down to the very edge of “beautiful” Pecan Creek,
and there is a back drop of tall ornamental cane at the south edge and
ground cover growing along the banks of the creek.
This
scene causes one to picture in his mind how beautiful Pecan Creek can be
and what an asset it could be to
Hamilton
. Not everyone would have the time and strength to do the work the
Beaches put in on theirs, but with cooperation and a little help, we
could have a parkway we would all be proud of.
