ST. PAUL’S SCHOOL
ALEMAN--1921--1954
Christian education was an important
emphasis of St. Paul’s Lutheran Chuch. The parochial grammar school of
seven grades provided instruction for children of the church families. In
addition to the curriculum taught in public school, religious instruction
was provided daily in the German language, as well as all aspects of
German language arts--reading, writing, spelling. Students were expected
to have a reading knowledge of German since church services were conducted
in German.
Teachers included Rev. Emil F. Moerbe, J. T. Jaeckel, E. A. Voskamp,
William H. Nielson, and C. T. Boriack.
A school building, now used as St. Paul’s Community Center, was
constructed during the summer of 1921.
