Tivis Rebel Abbott Jr., 76 of Hamilton, died in the Olin E. Teague
Veteran Memorial Hospital in Temple Feb. 2, 2003. Funeral services will be
held at 10 a.m. Wednesday February 5, 2003 at the Riley Funeral Home with
Rev. Jim Townsend officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Eastlawn
Memorial Park at Early, military honors provided by Dyess Air Force Honor
Guard.
Mr. Abbott was born December 29, 1926 at Stanton, Texas, the son of Tivis
R. Abbott Sr. and Sarah Myrtle Hovey Abbott. He graduated from Galena High
School in 1945 and continued his education at McMurray College in Abilene,
Texas, University of Alaska, Anchorage, Midwestern, Wichita Falls, Texas
and NESU Tahlequah.
He served his country in the Army Air Corp and the Air Force retiring from
the Air Force after serving twenty-four years. He was an instructor,
teaching teachers to teach. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was united married to Wanda Jean Smith July 6, 1951. She preceded him
in death on June 6, 1991. On April 2, 1994 he married Edith Johnson.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Rebel Abbott III, Ann Myra and her husband Steve, and Stan
Thomas and his wife Joyce; four sisters, Henry Beth Hogg, Matilda Treadway, Minnie Inez Jones,
and
Mamie Lee Harris; a sister-in-law Pat Gay and her husband
Bob; brother-in-law J. W. Smith and his wife Lucy and
by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Aileen Cherry Abernethy, 94, of
Nacogdoches, died Dec. 30 at her residence. Funeral services were Jan. 1
in Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Park.
Dr. Allen Reed and Rev. Bobby Smith of First Baptist Church officiated.
Mrs. Abernethy was born Nov. 25,
1901, in Wolfe City, the daughter of John Henry Cherry and Mary Olynthia
Tittsworth. She was married to Talbot Abernethy April 19, 1925. She was
a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Talbot
Abernethy of Nacogdoches; a son, F. E. Abernethy; and five grandchildren.

Thurman Abernethy, 88, of Hollis,
Oklahoma, died Friday, Dec. 25 following an extended illness. Funeral
services were held Monday, Dec. 28 at the First Baptist Church with Rev.
James Densman, pastor, conducting the services. Burial was at the
Fairmount Cemetery at Hollis.
Mr. Abernethy was born at Hollis
April 8, 1904 to Ben and Lou Bolton Abernethy. After finishing school at
Hollis, the family moved to Canadian, Texas where he farmed and ranched.
Here Mr. Abernethy met and married Olama Rushing Dec. 23, 1928. They had
three children.
The Abernethys returned to Hollis
where they bought an irrigated farm in the Bethel Community and built a
home. Mr. Abernethy retired from the farm in 1980, but held an active
interest in its operation. He was a deacon and active member of the
First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, a sister, Vergie and a brother, Rev. James.
Survivors include his wife, Olama of
Hollis; his daughters, Helen Christine and Joyce of Hollis; one son, Joe
of Gould; brothers, Talbot Abernethy of Nacogdoches and Alford [sic:
Arvord] Abernethy
of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Jana Ables, 36, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, after a four-year battle with
cancer.
Services were Thursday, Aug. 13, at First Baptist Church of Burleson.
Burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.
Mrs. Ables was born Aug. 11, 1962, in Eastland. She was a Burleson
resident for nine years and a member of First Baptist Church. She was an
office manager for a Mid-Cities plumbing company. She was an avid fitness
enthusiast and an animal lover. She participated four times in the Race
for the Cure.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Ables of Burleson; two daughters,
Kaylea and Megan Ables of Burleson; her father David McKinney and Shirley
Carson of North Richland Hills; her mother, Joyce Graham of Burleson; a
brother, Mark McKinley of Bend, Ore.; grandparents, Nell Riffe of Cisco,
Edna Causey of San Antonio and Geneva McKinley of Snyder. She was the
great-niece of Ola Short of Hamilton.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Fort Worth.

Murrell Millard Ables, 85, of Hamilton,
died Monday, Feb. 24 at the Hamilton General Hospital following a
short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the
Riley Funeral Home Chapel with rev. Jess Chaney and Rev. Franklin
Gage officiating. Burial was at Garden of Memories in Stephenville.
Mr. Ables was born Jan. 9, 1907 in the
Wilson community of Comanche County to Garland Ray and Minnie Rose
Palmer Ables. He was married to Sarah Daphna Driver on Oct. 21, 1928
in Hamilton. She died feb. 28, 1976. He then married Ina Johnson
Knapp on June 4, 1977 in Hamilton. He was a farmer and a carpenter,
and a member of the Littleville Baptist Church in Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by one sister
and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Ina, of
Hamilton; three children, Nelson Ables of Arlington, Melvin Ables of
Burleson and Roy Ables of Arlington; four step-children, Kenneth
Knapp of Lake Whitney, Joe Knapp of Early, Kay Knapp of Gainsville
[Florida], and Leana Land of Early; eight grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and seven great
step-children.
Pallbearers were Audie Mark Ables, Alan

Billy James Adair, 70, of Gustine,
died Jan. 21 at Hamilton General Hospital after an extended illness.
Memorial services were Monday, Jan.
24, at First United Methodist Church in Lamkin with Rev. Georgia Adamson
officiating.
Mr. Adair was born Nov. 15, 1923, in
Uvalde, the son of Albert L. and Margie Habermacher Adair. He and
Consuelo Romero were married in 1975 in Presidio.
He was a veteran of the United States
Navy and a member of Rock House Masonic Lodge # 417 in Hamilton. He
worked in Texas park construction and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Consuelo
Adair of Lamkin; three children, DeLana Brinson of Upper Sandusty, Ohio,
Sandra Lyn Dicke of Sweethome and Donna Sue Adair of Yokum; a sister,
Doris Adair Wilson of Lamkin; four brothers, Charles Joe Adair and Glenn Adair,
both of Lamkin, Weaver Adair of Breckenridge and Alfred Adair of
Georgetown; and a number of grandchildren.

ADAIR, CHARLES JOE
Charles Joe Adair, 77, died at his home Dec. 29, 2004. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 in the First Baptist Church at Gustine with Rev. John Ward and Rev. Robert Cavanaugh officiating. Burial followed in the
Toliver Cemetery at Lamkin.
Mr. Adair was born Feb. 8, 1927 at Uvalde, the son of the late Lyman and Marjorie Habermacher Adair.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gustine. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50 year member of Rock House Lodge in Hamilton. He retired from Texas Parks and Wildlife in 1987 where he was a maintenance specialist. He loved the tranquility of country living, hunting, fishing, and being outside.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Wilson, and brothers Billy Adair and Glen Adair. Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Dorothy Adair of Lamkin; two step-daughters, Shirley Fasel and husband Jerry of Austin and Dee Middleton and her husband Mike of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a step-son, Lee McCullough of Brownwood; two brothers, Weaver Adair and wife Elaine of Breckenridge and Alfred Adair and wife Dorothy of Georgetown; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Henrietta Ruth Case Adams, 69, of Shive died May 21 at her home
after a short illness.
Mrs. Adams was born June 5, 1924 in Evanston, Ill., the daughter
of P.F. and Ruth Miller Case. She and J. W. "Buster" Adams were
married Dec.18, 1945, at the Case Ranch in Eldorado. She was active in
the art club in Hamilton and was well known for her work with the
Spinning Wheel. She was a homemaker and a member of First United
Methodist Church in Evant.
Survivors include her husband, Buster Adams of the Shive
Community; three children, Kathleen Ruth Adams of Austin, Anne Adams
Winters of Liberty Hill and William W. "Bill" Adams of Shive;
a sister, Helen Brigham of Bella Vista, Ark.; a brother, Fred H. Case of
the Case Ranch; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan W. Adams [who
was interred in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.].
Memorials may be made to the Chris Comer Scholarship Fund at the
First National Bank of Evant, or to a favorite charity.

Joe Milton Adams, 63, of Eastland, died
Thursday, Dec. 1, in an Eastland Hospital.
Adams attended public schools in Hamilton, and
was a retired employee of Shell Pipeline. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, and served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Adams of
Eastland; an adopted son, Lucas Adams of Austin; a step-son, Jack Neal
of Allen; and an aunt, Mamie Adams of Hamilton

Funeral services for Raymond F. Adams, 75 of
Fritch, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the First Southern
Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Fuller, pastor, officiating.
He died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in Northwest
Texas Hospital in Amarillo.
A native of Ireland,
Texas he has been a Fritch resident since 1956. He was a retired
operator for Phillips Petroleum Company.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist
Church, VFW, Atomic & Oil Field Workers, and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, June, of the home;
one son, Ray Adams Jr. of Booker, Texas; three daughters, Helen Price of
Borger, Barbara Sanders of Fritch, Kathy Adams of Grapevine; five
sisters, Ernestine Schrank of Aleman, Caroline Whatley, Melissa Boyd and
Genevieve Burt, all of Fritch and Elizabeth Brown of Gatesville; four

Roy W. Adams, 78, of Gatesville, died Wednesday, June 10, in a local
hospital.
Services were Friday, June 12 at Scott?s Funeral Home Chapel with
Minister Delbert Smith officiating. Burial was in Evergreen-Bundrant
Cemetery in Purmela.
Mr. Adams was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Ireland, the son of
Dave and
Kate Adams. He was reared and attended school in Purmela, graduating
from Gatesville High School in 1938. He attended John Tarleton College and
graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelors degree in
agronomy. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was married to
Mary Graham for a number of years. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and was a
water well contractor in the area for many years.
Survivors include five sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Gatesville,
Ernestine Schrank of Aleman and Caroline Whatley, Genevieve Burt and
Melissa Boyd, all of Fritch.

Glynn (Bud) Adamson, 78, died Nov. 21 at Coryell
Memorial Hospital in Gatesville. memorial services were Nov. 24 at First
Baptist Church in Evant with Carl Grubb and Rev. Wade Lackey
officiating.
Mr. Adamson was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Coolidge,
the son of the late James Augusta and Mary Ella Jetter Adamson. He was a
former rancher and had made his home in Evant since 1976.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and
four sisters.
Survivors include four children, Frances Kiphen of
Gatesville, Glenda Hataway of Lubbock, James Adamson of Kemp and Cindy
Cruz of Irving; two sisters, Gladys Hines of Colleyville and Bill King
of Midland; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special
friend, Tuska Voges of Evant.

R. J. Adcock Jr., 72, of Gustine, died
Saturday, Jan. 7, in the Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital in Fort
Worth.
Services were Monday, Jan. 9, in the Hall
and Chaney Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Gale Scott officiating.
Burial was in Union Cemetery in Gustine.
Mr. Adcock was born Nov. 26, 1921, in
Gustine, the son of Rance Jefferson and Leah Jackson Adcock. He married
Billie Louise Johnston in Gustine on Jan. 31, 1942.
He was a lifetime resident of Gustine. he
was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945 in Special
Forces, First Ranger Division. He was a dairyman and stock farmer for 50
years. He was a member of the Registered Limousine Breeders Association
of America for eight years. He was a member of the Gustine Church of
Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Louise
Adcock of Gustine; a daughter, Diane Carole Westfall of Benbrook; a son,
Ronnie Adcock of Gustine; a sister, Ann Lane of Gustine; five
grandchildren, Felicia Westfall Clements, Jarrett Westfall, Rory
Westfall, Wade Adcock and DeVona Adcock; a step-grandson, James
Humphries; and four great-grandchildren, Brianna Clements, Kelby
Clements, Jarred Westfall and Dalyn Lamb.

Cemetery or the Union Cemetery.

Roicie Adcock, 54, of Gustine, passed
away at 1 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1991, in the Central Plains Hospital
in Plainview.
He was the son of the late Doyle and
Delma Bain Adcock having been born July 25, 1936, in Comanche County.
He was a construction worker, served in
the U.S. Army and was a Baptist.
He married Wanda Newton on October 1,
1976, in Hamilton County.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Adcock
of Dublin; two brothers, Henry D. Adcock of Gustine; Levi Adcock of
Dublin; two sisters, Dorothy Brodie of Fort Worth; Nelda Jordan of
Burleson; four step-sons, Delbert McCraig of Fort Worth; Danny McCraig
of Pottsboro; Delton McCraig of Orlando, Florida; Michael Newton of
Gustine and four step-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by a brother,
Glynn Dell Adcock on March 12, 1965.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday,
March 14, 1991, in the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie
Calcote officiating. Interment was in Board Church Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Larry Graham, Walt Bruton, Jerry Gore, Bill Lane, Jimmy Northcutt,
and Michael Adcock.

Peggy Adkins, 53, of Fort Worth died Oct. 10. Funeral
services were held Oct. 12, at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Mineral
Wells. Burial was in the Old Dublin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Adkins was born in 1940 in Millers View, Texas, the
daughter of Jess and Maggie Williams.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Adkins, Sr., of
Mineral Wells; four children, Norman Adkins, Jr., Tyeanna Aubrey, Carla
Adkins and Donna Adkins, all of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren; her
mother, Maggie Williams of Dublin; three brothers, Billy Neal Williams
of Tolar, Bobby Ray Williams, Sr., of Dublin and Carl Gene Williams of
Dublin; and a sister, Anita Faye Buchanan of Dublin.

ALEXANDER, LOUISE (HEYROTH)

Louise Heyroth Alexander died August 9, 2004. A memorial service for Louise has been scheduled for the Glass Chapel at the First United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 11. She was born at home in the rural farming community of Spring Creek, on Oct. 2, 1920, the daughter of Louis Heyroth and Vera Eugenia Anderson.
She was married to Staff Sergeant Ernest Warren Alexander on August
22, 1942 in Dallas. She was a loving wife and caring and compassionate mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed her roles as Sunday school teacher, Scout leader, Red Cross Gray Lady, and willing school volunteer. Mrs. Alexander thought that the title, "homemaker", was a precious gift and never took that role for granted.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and her quiet, persistent faith will remain an example to her family. She loved to cook, sew, and read, but most of all she liked to spend time with her family. Mrs. Alexander was a loyal Air Force wife, sharing assignments for 29 years in points near and far, including San Antonio, Hawaii, Turkey, and Washington, D.C. In the years after Air Force retirement, she and her husband were partners in a ranching operation near Hamilton, Texas.
They moved to Midland in 1991 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of Midland; a son, Scott Warren Alexander and wife, Darla Jean Alexander of San Angelo; daughter, Patricia Alexander Maurer and husband, Dr. William H. Maurer of Midland; grandchildren, Kristopher Scott Alexander and wife, Julie, of Austin, Kathryn Clark Alexander of San Antonio, Kort Austin Alexander and Abby Prim Alexander of San Angelo and Sarah Elizabeth Maurer and Robert Warren Maurer of Midland; a sister-in-law, Betty Alexander of Midland; a brother, William Heyroth and wife, Carolyn, of Hamilton and his sons, Steven, Peter, and Paul and their families, and a host of Anderson and Heyroth cousins in cities and towns across Texas.

Nancy Word Alexander, 92, of Midland,
formerly of Hamilton, died Thursday, Feb. 20 at Midland Memorial Medical
Center after a short illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb.
22 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cal Hoffman officiating.
Burial was at the Hico City Cemetery.
Mrs. Alexander was born April 6, 1899 at
Hillsboro to James M. and Jessie Griffin Word. She married Ernest Warren
Alexander July 26, 1918. She was a public school teacher and a member of
St. Lukes Methodist Church in Midland.
Survivors include one son, Ernest Warren
Alexander of Midland; one daughter, Betty Jo Alexander of Midland; one
brother, J. F. Word of Iredell; and two grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were J.B. Word, James David Word, Kenneth Word, Toney

ALEXANDER, WILLIAM MILLER "DUB"
William Miller (Dub) Alexander, 70, of Evant, died May 12, 2001 in the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services were held May 14 at the First Baptist Church in Evant with Rev. John Franklin officiating. Burial was in the Knox Cemetery.
Mr. Alexander was born July 22, 1930 in Shive, the son of T. Alexander and Bessie Connell Alexander. He was one of ten children.
He spent his life in the Evant area where he worked on farms and ranches. He loved people and was always willing to help. He enjoyed the outdoors, working, fishing and hunting. Visiting with his coffee shop buddies was an important part of his life.
Mr. Alexander was close to his family, especially to some of his nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Grandpa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lillia Joyce and Sarah Elizabeth Alexander and two brothers, Paul and Albert Alexander.
Survivors include his two sisters, Janie Ann Matthews and husband James of Wingate, Melba Townsend of Evant; three brothers, Jerry Alexander and wife Karla, Norman Alexander and wife Phyllis, all of Greeley, Colo. and James Alexander and wife Wanda of Oglesby; eight nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Joey Alexander, Cecil Townsend Jr., David Townsend, Billy Joe Townsend, James Lovell and Dick Clary.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Elam, Carl Grubb, Harold Clary and all his coffee-drinking buddies.

Hamilton died Monday, July 27 at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home after a
short illness. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30
at the Energy Cemetery with Dr. George Tolbert officiating.
Mrs. Allen was born Aug. 30,
1900 in Energy to Nomie Andrew and Lillie May Moore Hensley.
She married Emil Allen at
Energy in 1920. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of
Christ.
She was preceded in death by
her husband and three brothers.
Survivors include one
nephew, Dr. N. A. Hensley of Fort Worth and a host of friends and

Dalton Melvin Allen, 84, died at Olin Teague VA Center at 1:19 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct.
27 in the Evant Church of Christ.
Mr. Allen served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Master Sergeant
Mr. Allen first a flight engineer on the B-17 bomber. Then throughout his military career he was certified to fly the most powerful aircrafts of the era. He was assigned to many duty stations all over the world and gave his service through World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, Melvin began preaching the gospel full time. He ministered to many congregations throughout Texas. He retired from preaching because of his health, but never stopped teaching God's word to anyone who would lend an ear.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen have lived in Evant for the last 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Mathis Allen; his mother, Suzie Margaret Calmes; sisters, Bessie Mae, Cleo, Agnes and Beatrice.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorene E. Hill-Allen, of Evant; two children, Sheryal Lynnette Garrity and her husband Michael F. Garrity of Evant and David Melvin Allen and his wife Linda of Eddy, Texas; six granddaughters and their husbands and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Lou of Wichita Falls, Margaret Johnson and her husband Roland of Abilene.

Irma Lea Allen, 83, of River Oaks died
Saturday, June 1, at her home.
Services were Monday, June 3, at
Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Allen was born Sept. 16, 1912, in
Hamilton, the daughter of Thomas and Grace Perkins. She graduated from
Hamilton High School and shortly afterward married Wade Allen, also of
Hamilton. While her husband served in World War ll she worked at
Consolidated Vultee in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker and a lifelong
member of Castleberry Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her twin
sister, Ina May Danley, in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Wade H.
Allen of River Oaks; a son, Ronnie Allen and wife Kathy of River Oaks;
a daughter Janice Johnson and husband Jim of Tampa, Fla.; and four
grandchildren, Mathew Allen of River Oaks and Jennifer, Jalyn and
Jamie Johnson of Tampa.

John Lee Allen, lll, age 39, died at
Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sunday, July 17, following a long bout with
cancer. He was a native of Hamilton who was prominent in Colorado
Springs educational circles.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, July 19, at Wasson High School, Colorado Springs, with the Rev.
M. E. Proby, pastor of St. John's Baptist Church, officiating. A number
of school officials had roles in the memorial services.
Mr. Allen was born April 6, 1944, in
Hamilton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Allen, Jr. His mother was the
former Margurette [Ann] Grisham of Hamilton. [ He was married to
the former Beatrice Harrison]. Many of his kinfolks still live in the
Hamilton area.
He held a bachelor's degree from the
University of Denver and a master's degree from the University of
Colorado. He has lived in Colorado Springs since 1968 when he became a
teacher for District 11.
Mr. Allen has been president of the Colorado
Springs teachers Association since 1980 and was entering his third term.
He was the first president to serve more than one term. He was a member
of the CSTA negotiating team and was noted for his outspoken position on
behalf of teacher's rights and benefits. In an editorial in the Colorado
Springs "Sun" following his death, he was praised in words
ending, "Allen will be remembered as a leader who never gave up the
fight."
He is survived byhis wife, Beatrice; a
daughter, Heather; a son, Nathan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L.
Allen, Jr.; and a brother, George Allen of Denver.

senior, is one of 10,000 US high school students qualitying as
finalists in National Merit Scholarship Foundation testing.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L.
Allen Jr. of Jasper, and the grandson of Mrs. Bertie Grisham of
Hamilton. His mother is the former Margaret Grisham.
Allen passed a qualification test last
March 20, and reached the finalist classification after tests December
2.
The program produces the most outstanding
high school scholars in the nation and helps their college education.

Wade H. Allen, 89, of Tampa Fla., died Oct. 7, 2003 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Oct. 11 in Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Allen was born Dec. 29, 1913 in Sumter County, Ala. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He lived most of his adult life in the Fort Worth area where he was a homebuilder, however he spent a number of years in Hamilton in the 1930s and 1940s. He often said he made more lifelong friends in Hamilton than anywhere else. While in Hamilton he enjoyed hunting with his friends, Frank Holmes, Hoague Williams, Bob Riley, Cla-rence Rush, Claude Huddleston and his best friend, Seth Moore.
He was married to Irma Lea Perkins in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1997. Survivors include his son, Ronald Allen and wife Kathy of River Oaks; a daughter, Janice Johnson and husband Jim of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Greenwood Funeral Home

Eula Altenhoff, 83, of New Braunfels, died
in McKenna Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 1. Funeral services
were held Saturday, Sept. 3, in Scott's Funeral Home Chapel in
Gatesville with Bobby Sebesta officiating. Burial was in Restland
Cemetery.
Mrs. Altenhoff was born in the Ireland
community on April 19, 1905, the daughter of the late Robert H. and
Simuas Fisher. She attended Ireland schools. She was a former resident
of San Marcos prior to moving to New Braunfels in 1972. She was a
retired licensed vocational nurse and a member of the Church of
Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha
Kirchoff of Bryan; three sons, Darvin Altenhoff and wife Marjorie of
New Braunfels, Marvin Altenhoff and wife Sarah and H. W. Altenhoff and
wife Margie, all of San Marcos; two brothers, Hugh Fisher and Luther
Fisher, both of Waco; nine grandchildren; and five great
grandchildren.

Marvin Altenhoff, 64, of San Marcos, died
April 14 in a San Marcos hospital.
Services were Monday, April 17, at First
Presbyterian Church in San Marcos with Rev. Robert Willits and Sam
Junkin officiating. Masonic services followed in the San Marcos City
Cemetery.
Mr. Altenhoff was born Nov. 2, 1930, in
Aleman.
He was a principal for 15 years in the San
Marcos school district. He established the juvenile probation department
for Hays County and worked with that for four years. He was a
transportation coordinator/driver for Central Texas Medical Center and
served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era. He was
a member of the Kiwanis Club and a member and elder of the First
Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 342 and York
Rite and was past president of the Elementary Principals and Supervisors
Association.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Altenhoff
of San Marcos; three sons, Paul and Linda Altenhopff, all of San Marcos,
and Ben and Lisa Altenhoff of El Campo; two brothers, Darvin Altenhoff
of Gruene and H. W. Altenhoff of San Marcos; a sister, Martha Kirchoff
of Bryan; and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Rhonda, Whitney, Kaitlyn,
Conner, Kelsey, Brooke and Clay Altenhoff.

Mr. Amberson was born Jan. 13,
1915, in the Territory of New Mexico, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack George Washington Jerome Amberson. He was married
to Ruth Bowermaster in 1949 in Silver City, NM. They had
lived in the Bee House Community of Coryell County since
1978.
He was a retired heavy equipment
operator and a Baptist. He was an army veteran of World War
ll.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include
his wife Ruth Bowermaster Amberson of Bee House; three sons,
Jimmy Clayton Amberson of Mesa, Ariz., Jack Jerome Amberson
of Bee House and Johnnie Floyd Amberson of Evant; a

Dora K. Ament, 88, of Gatesville died Sunday, Aug. 16, in a local
nursing home.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev.
Larry Vanzile and Rev. Ron Bellamy officiating. Burial was in the
Gatesville Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Ament was born Oct. 9, 1909, near Evant in Hamilton County, the
daughter of Ernest G. and Eva Shave Kingsbury. She was married to A.
C. (Bill) Ament on May 12, 1940, at the Kingsbury home near Evant. She
made her home in Gatesville all of her married life. The Aments owned and
operated the Cozy Café and Bill’s Café in Gatesville for many years.
She was later employed by and retired from Civil Service at Fort Hood. She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 3, 1976.
Survivors include a nephew and niece, Wyllis H. Ament and wife Linda
Sue; great-nephews and nieces, Jamie Ament and wife Shari, Cindy Venable
and husband Larry and Kris Ament; and great-great-nephew and niece Clay
and Kari Ament, whom she considered her immediate family. She was also
very close to her nephew, Charles Ament and wife Debbie of Gatesville; and
their children, Austin, Jared and Jill.
She is also survived by an aunt, Audra Shave of Hamilton; nieces Jean
Ladshaw of Arlington, Doris Coward and Kay Kershner, both of Gatesville,
Emily Young of Pancake and Laverne Harris of Bacliff; a nephew, Billy
Clyde Ament of Kerrville; and by many great- and great-great-nieces and
nephews, cousins and friends.

Friday, Jan. 19, in the Western Hills Nursing Home.
Services were Sunday, Jan. 21, in the Hall

officiating. Burial was in Hanson Cemetery.
Mrs. Anders was born Feb. 15, 1911, in
Comanche, the daughter of Johnny and Fanny Palmer Baugh. She was married
to Charlie B. Anders Feb. 25, 1929. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10,
1976. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mayo Baugh and J.
D. Baugh.
Mrs. Anders was a homemaker and a lifelong
resident of Comanche County. She was a member of the Pleasant Home
Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Anders
of Comanche, Jack Anders of Temple and Sammy Anders of DeLeon; three
daughters, Dorothy Miller of Dublin, Mary Hooks of Stephenville and Fay
Ross of Temple; two sisters, Josie Arms of Proctor and Lillie Hudson of
Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.

Steve Hooks, David Hooks, Andy Craft, Hank Anders and Steve Anders,.

Aline Flora Andres, 89, died Nov 22, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 26 at Zion Lutheran Church with interment and graveside services at Restland.
She was born October 7, 1914 in Aleman, the eldest of four children of Walter and Emma Schrank.
She was baptized, confirmed and eventually married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aleman. Mrs. Andres was married to Norbert Fritz Andres on Oct. 6, 1935. The couple lived in Aleman, Wichita Falls, Waco and Dallas during the years prior to and following World War II. They had four sons.
In the early 1950s, they moved to San Antonio where they were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She served as church secretary and kindergarten teacher until 1958 when the family returned to Dallas. They rejoined Zion Lutheran Church where Mrs. Andres accepted the kindergarten teaching position at Zion Lutheran School.
She taught for many years and was a positive, Christian influence on the lives of the students given to her care. Mrs. Andres had a great love for music. There was always a piano in the house and she often played for hours. She loved to
listen to music as well and enjoyed attending stage productions and Hollywood movie musicals. Mrs. Andres possessed an inner strength that was often hidden beneath a mild disposition and good sense of humor. This strength and her firm faith in the Lord allowed her to deal with adversity with
confidence and grace even to the end of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert and is survived by her brother, Maj. L. L. Schrank
(Ret) of Aleman; her sister, Ruth Willard of Clifton; her sons, Prentice Andres and wife Martha of San Antonio, Gene Andres and wife Carolyn of Dallas, Bob Andres and wife Carolyn of Mesquite, Rob Andres and wife Suzanne of Garland; eight grandchildren and five great grand-children. Mr. Anders was born June 8, 1937 at Odessa, the son of James Monroe Anders and Georgia Gibbins Anders. He was a retired oil field drilling consultant.
He was married to Juanita Martha Seider on May 1, 1983 at Gustine.
Survivors include his wife of Dublin; five children, Terri Wallace of Bowie, Tammie Miller of Bowie, Tracy Birkett of Stanford, Conn., Donnie Jones of McKinney and Keisha Jones of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and one sister Doro-thy Bruno of Whitney.

Rea Anderson, 98, of Seguin, died in the Seguin Hospital March 12,
1988, following a short illness. The funeral service was held Tuesday,
in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seguin. Burial followed in the Fort
Sam Houston Government Cemetery in San Antonio where Mr. Anderson was
buried.
Clara Rea was born in Hamilton County
February 20, 1890, the fourth of nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. T.
K. Rea. She married Felden W. Anderson of Clifton in 1918, in the Rea
ranch home. [Married: 08/05/1918, Hamilton
County Marriage Record Book 7, p. 248] To this union were born
three children, all of whom survive her; one daughter, Dorothy
Anderson Sagobiel of Seguin, Thomas W. Anderson Jr. of Bolder City,
Nevada and Jack W. Anderson of Houston.
Mr. Anderson died in 1958 in San
Antonio where he had practiced law since World War l.
Clara graduated from Clifton Lutheran
College and from C.I.A. in Denton. She taught school in Indian Gap and
Comanche before she married. After they settled in San Antonio, she
taught Home Economics in the public schools for many years.
Clara Rea Anderson is survived by her
three children; 13 grand children; 15 great grandchildren; one
sister-in-law, Mrs. Milton Rea of Hamilton; and a host of relatives
and friends.
She was a member of the Lutheran
Church.

died at his residence June 8, 1990. Graveside services were held

Mr. Anderson was born January 16, 1907,
in Cleburne to the late Edward B. and Eva Gertrude Jackson Anderson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War ll. He was
a rancher by occupation. He lived in the Cleburne area much of his
life, and had been a resident of Gustine for the past six years.
He was preceded in death by five
brothers. He is survived by six sisters, Mary Griffin of Fort Worth,
Mildred Anderson of ReAlto Calif., Sarah Wolfe of Lamkin, Betty
Tatum of Houston, Nell Jeffcoat of Carrollton, and Ethel Morgan of
Odessa.

Mr. Anderson was born March 25,
1916, in Hamilton County. He farmed and ranched in his youth
and joined the North American Aviation in 1942. He supervised
the building of combat and civilian aircraft, among other
duties, until his retirement in 1979.
He volunteered for the Red
Cross, driving cancer patients to Parkland Hospital in Dallas
as well as driving a church bus for the First Baptist Church
of Garland, where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife,
Lillie Mae; a daughter, Mary Lou Green and Husband Cecil; a
son, Joe Mack Anderson and wife Melinda; two granddaughters,
Melinda Toussaint and husband Douglass and Dina Dixon and
husband Paul; a grandson, David Green and wife Cindy; a
great-grandson, Jordan Tyler Brummitt, Irene Thompson and
Lucille Brummitt.

Mr. Andrews was born July 27, 1930 in Hamilton, the son of Ola and Fred

Survivors include a brother, Bobby Ray Andrews and wife Joyce of
Burnet; a daughter, Sheila and husband John Sheen of San Angelo, a

granddaughter.

Hallie Mae Anglin, 88, of Brownwood died Nov. 11, 2003. Funeral services were held Nov. 14 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Torian of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
She was born in Hamilton County on Nov. 15, 1914, the daughter of A. H. and Minnie Presley Sumerford.
She attended Blue Ridge schools in Hamilton County where she graduated valedictorian of her class.
She was married to Clayton Anglin in Hamilton on Sept. 27, 1936. He preceded her in death in July of 1987.
She was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Glad Hand Sunday school class. She was a homemaker and a former “pink lady” of the Ladies Auxiliary of Brownwood Regional Medical Center. She was a devoted wife and mother who faithfully served her family, church and community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers,
W. A. Sumerford and V. S. Sumerford.

Stella Anglin, 92 of Shallowater died Aug. 5, 2000 in Lakeside Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Shallowater First Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Wilson and the Rev. Wesley Jones officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Mausoleum. She was born March 15, 1908 in Pancake, Coryell County and was married to Willie H. Gilmer in 1928 in Lanham. He preceded her in death in 1945.
Mrs. Anglin moved to Lubbock from Comanche in 1951 and served as nurse to Dr. James Fannin for many years. She was married to John C. Anglin on Sept.
19, 1954 in Lubbock.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Vacation Bible School for more than 25 years. She had received her
25-year certificate from the American Bible Society and was a member of Baptist Women and W.M.U.
Mrs. Anglin used proceeds from sales from her ceramics business to further the building fund at her church.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Art T. Gilmer of Fort Worth, Bill N. Gilmer of Clovis, N.M. and Joe D. Gilmer of Midland; a brother, Carl Ray Sellers of Hico; three sisters, Norma Lee Jones and Prudence Jones, both of Lanham and Joy Wilson of Houston; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Shallowater First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Truman Anglin of Morton passed away December
8, 1991, at the age of 73 in St. May's Hospital in Lubbock after a brief
illness. Funeral services were held December 10 in First Missionary
Baptist Church in Morton, with Ellis Funeral Home in Morton conducting.
Truman was born in Hamilton County in the
Lanham community to the late Clay Anglin and Maude Crosby Anglin, and at
an early age moved with his family to Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; two sons,
Terry and Ronnie; two daughters, Lanita and Renee; four brothers, H. C.,
John, Horace and Verlin Anglin of Lubbock; two sisters, Faye Whittle of
Plainview and Edna Wages of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. He is also survived by two aunts and several cousins of
the Hamilton Area.

Boyd Hamilton Anthony, 80, of Comanche, died
Wednesday, March 8, in the Western Hills Nursing Home in Comanche.
Services were Friday, March 10, in the Hall &
Chaney Chapel with Rev. Sam Randolph officiating. Burial was in the Gardens of
Memory Cemetery near Comanche.
Mr. Anthony was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Comanche,
the son of Ernest Eugene and Jessie Hamilton Anthony. He was married to Stella
Card Dec. 31, 1938, in Pecos.
He was a stock holder and employee of the State
National Bank for 35 years, serving as president from 1950 to 1973. He was a
50-year member of the Comanche Evening Lions Club, a member of American
Legion and Comanche VFW Post # 481 for many years. He was a former member of
the administration council of Texas Bankers Association. He was a member of
First Baptist Church, serving on the board of trustees from 1977 to 1995 and
was chairman of the board 1983 to 1995. He had served as chairman and member
of the stewardship and finance committee, served on the property and building
loan committee and was chairman of the special memorials for the construction
of First Baptist Church. He was co-founder and former vice president of the
Comanche Industrial Foundation and also co-founder of Comanche Gardens of
Memory Cemetery. He was past president of the Comanche Chamber of Commerce and
was Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 1977. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, involved in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a recipient of the campaign medal with four bronze stars. He
was an avid sports fan and dedicated supporter of Comanche High School
athletics.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Anthony of
Comanche; three daughters, Kay Fox of Hurst, Gail Youngdale and husband Ralph
of Sugarland and Kathy Culpepper and husband Jim of Gatesville; two sisters,
Josephine Anthony Box of Houston and Ellen A. Norris of Comanche; six
grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Haley Culpepper.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. E. E.
Anthony, and a sister, Elizabeth A. Durham.

Stella Card Anthony, 82, of Comanche died Saturday, May 23, in the
Western Hills Care Center.
Services were Tuesday, May 26, in the Hall & Sons Funeral Home
Chapel in Comanche with Dr. Van Christian officiating. Burial was in
Comanche Gardens of Memory.
Mrs. Anthony was born March 20, 1916, in Pecos, the daughter of Earl
Garland and Ollie Buchanan Card. She was married to Boyd H. Anthony on
Dec. 31, 1938, in Pecos. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1995. She
was also preceded in death by two brothers, Garland Card and W.L. Card.
She was a homemaker and worked for several years for the family-owned
State National Bank in Comanche. She had lived in Comanche for 58 years
and was a member of First Baptist Church where she served in the church
nursery for more than 20 years. She was a graduate of Pecos High School.
Survivors include three daughters, Kay Anthony Fox of Comanche, Gail
Youngdale and husband Ralph of Sugarland and Kathy Culpepper and husband
Jim of Comanche; two brothers, Dennis Card of Fort Stockton and Buddy Card
of McCamey; a sister, Nita Smith of Pecos; Six grandchildren, Terri
Youngdale, Melissa Youngdale, Ross Youngdale and wife Renae, Neil
Culpepper and wife Tammy, Todd Culpepper and wife Kelly Elizabeth and
Scott Culpepper and wife Kelly Lynn; and four great-grandchildren, Kelsie,

Gladys E. Apel, 72, died Jan. 2 at Hillside Manor Nursing Home in
Gatesville after a short illness. Graveside funeral services were held
Jan. 4 at the Pearl Cemetery in Coryell County with Rev. Harrold Carlisle
and Rev. Neil Taylor officiating. Services were under the direction of
Riley Funeral Home.
She was born May 6, 1927 in Coryell County, the daughter of Henry and
Willie Patterson.
She was married to Albert Apel Jr. on Feb. 9, 1946 in Plainview. Mrs.
Apel was a housewife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Nazerene
Church in Gatesville. She lived all of her life in Coryell County.
Her parents, her husband and a son-in-law, Jimmy F. Zumwalt preceded
her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris and husband Johnny Novosad of
Bryan and Cathy Zumwalt of Round Rock; a son, Albert Apel III of Lorena;
three grandchildren, Chris Novosad of Dallas, Jimmy Joe Zumwalt of Round
Rock and Justin Apel of Lorena and a sister, Georgie Erwin of Humble.

James Thomas (J.T.) Appleby Jr., died Aug.
16 in Fort Worth after a long illness.
Burial was in Rose HIll Cemetery in Fort
Worth on Aug. 19.
Mr. Appleby was the son of James Thomas and
Belle Ross Jones Appleby Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents; two
brothers, A.M. (Dutch) and Ross B. Appleby; two sisters, Nettie J.
Kunkel and Mary L. Huckabee; and a daughter, Bobbie Helen Yates.
He was a 1930 graduate of Hamilton High
School and was retired from Greyhound Bus Lines after 30 years of
service.

of Arlington; a stepson, Ronny; and 14 grandchildren, Debora J. Fehse,

Charlie Applewhite, 85 of Ozona, died Nov. 30, 2002 in Ozona. Graveside services were held Dec. 3 in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Applewhite was born on Onion Creek near Austin on Nov. 4, 1917, the son of Isaac and Velma Applewhite.
His school days were spent in Eden and Paint Rock. He graduated from Paint Rock High School and attended San Marcos State College before enlisting in the Army where he served as a Signal Corps sergeant in Africa, Italy, Sicily and England during World War II.
He was married to Elizabeth Coose of Ozona on March 14, 1946.
Mr. Applewhite was a partner of the Ozona Butane Company for 40 years. After his retirement, he and Lib were Helping Hands volunteers and delivered Meals on Wheels. He loved to fish on the Devil's River where he and Lib had a lease and was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johnny Childress; a grandson, George Austin Preston and a brother, Jack
Applewhite.

Elizabeth Applewhite died Feb. 21, 2005 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at Ozona Methodist Church. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 22, 1920 in San Angelo, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Coose of Juno and later Ozona. She was reared and educated in Ozona and graduated from Draughon’s Business College in San Antonio. While in school, she worked as secretary of Ozona Public Schools. She worked for Crockett County Water Control for 38 ½ years in an office shared by Bright Baggett’s Insurance Agency whom she worked for as well. Mrs. Applewhite was active in her community. She was married to Charles Applewhite on March 14, 1946. After retirement, the couple worked as Helping Hands Volunteers, delivering Meals on Wheels.
She was known for her love of life, her positive attitude and her love of the Lord. She was a devout member of the Ozona Methodist Church.
Mrs. Applewhite was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Johnny Childress; a grandson, George Austin Preston; her parents, Modenia and Steve Coose and a sister, Jo Nell Corder. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Richard Preston of Eldorado; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Shelley Applewhite of Hamilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Kip Nichols, also of Hamilton; grandchildren, Trey and Hunter Preston, Clifford and Emily Nichols, Derek Nichols, Randy Moore and Shannon Moore, Amberlie Applewhite, John Clayton and Megan Childress and Courtney Childress; great-grandchildren, Charles Russell Childress and John Cole Childress; a sister, Willa V. Baggett of Peach Tree, Ga; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Alex Applewhite of Hamilton, Billie and wife Mae Applewhite of Granbury; several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friend Dorothy Friend of Ozona.

Annie Laurie Arbuckle 95 of Hamilton formerly of Austin died July 27 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held July 30 at Cook-Walden Capital Memorial Park Mausoleum at Pfluegerville. Burial followed in Capital Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Arbuckle was born June 11, 1907 at Austin, Texas, daughter of the late Fred Christian Peterson and Elsie Lena Kretschmar Peterson.
In July of 1922 she was married to Lester C. Arbuckle at Austin. He preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great- grand-mother. She was an active member and supporter of the Pecan Springs P.T.A. and she was a long time member of Mary Rebekah Lodge # 117 in Austin. She was a member of the Baptist church. Annie had lived most of her life in Austin moving to Hamilton in 1997.
Survivors include one son, Brady Arbuckle and his wife Clarlynn of ...; one sister, Nannie Jones; 12 grand-children; 29 great grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive. She is preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Marjorie Fugler; a grandson; two sisters and three brothers.

Abilene. She was a homemaker and a resident of Gustine for 29
years, moving from DeLeon. She was a nursery worker in DeLeon and
Gustine churches.
Survivors include her husband; a
daughter, Doris Bates of Gustine, two sons, Richard Armstrong of
Gustine and Robert Armstrong of Stephenville; a sister, Ann Wall
of Comanche; a brother Harold Clark of Hurst; six grandchildren,

residence in Lubbock on Wednesday, Jan. 7, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 9, in Lubbock.
Mr. Arnett was born in Hamilton County, [ the
son of Alvin Green Arnett and Minnie Addie Harlien who were married May
19, 1912, Bk 6:20] and moved to Lubbock in 1957. He served
in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was associated with Austex Foods
before founding Arnett Brokerage Co. He was a member of National Food
Brokers Association and Lubbock Food Brokers Association.
He served as director of the American
State Financial Corporation, American State Bank of Lubbock and American
State Bank of Snyder. He had been president of High Plains Downs, Inc.
since 1980. He was active in speed horse breeding. He married Jean
Rheubotham on Nov. 30, 1957 in Dallas. He was a member of the Church of
Christ.
Survivors include his wife; his mother,
Minnie Arnett of Hamilton; five daughters, Diane Rogers, Lou Weitner,
Nell English, all of Lake Jackson, Carol Ridinger of Hale Center and
Allison Arnett of Lubbock; a son, Alvin C. Arnett Jr. of Lubbock; three

Ivan R. Arnett, 88, died unexpectedly at his home on Oct. 30, 2003. A Round Rock resident, Ivan and his family previously lived in Baytown and Brenham. Services celebrating his life were held Nov. 3, 2003, at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment with military
honors followed at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
Mr. Arnett was born Oct. 17, 1915, near Topsy, Lampasas County, the son of Alvin Green Arnett and Minnie Addie
(Harlien) Arnett. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Arnett served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired from Exxon in 1973 with more than 35 years of employment. He later worked as a Building Inspector for the City of Round Rock. A Texas farmer and rancher, Ivan also worked in the residential and commercial building industry.
He was a member of the Graham Masonic Lodge No. 20 in Brenham. He was also a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Brenham. His parents preceded him in death, as did his brother, A. C. Arnett.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann; four daughters, Bettie Taylor and husband Don, Ruth
McBrayer, Nancy McNabb, Robyne Carroll and husband Tim; three sis-ters, Opal Burke, Joy Onstott and husband Delbert, and Kate Cole; sister-in-law, Jean Arnett; and mother-in-law, Nancy Parker. He is also survived by eleven

Mr. Arnett was born in Hamilton
County Feb. 12, 1909. He was the son of William Ezra Arnett and
Lizzie Kate Harlien Arnett. He was married to Hazel Conner in

He was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers, Willie Melvin Arnett and Eddy Jasper

Mr. Derrell W. (Curley) Arnold, 50,
of Lampasas died Friday, April 16, in a Lampasas hospital following
a long illness. Mr. Arnold lived in Mills and Hamilton Counties
before moving to Lampasas in 1969. He was the father of Mrs. David
Lengefeld of Hamilton. [His father was Bannie
Tafton Arnold.].
Funeral services were held Monday,
April 19, at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lampasas with
burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. George Gaston of Monroe, La.,
officiated. He was assisted by The Rev. Michael Barnard.
Mr. Arnold was born Oct. 4, 1925, in
Lampasas County, and was administrator of Lampasas Nursing Home at
the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War ll, had
previously been employed by the Hamilton County Electric Co-op, and
for 12 years was electrical superintendent for the City of
Goldthwaite.
He was a member of the First Baptist
Church and was an ordained deacon. He was a member of the Lampasas
Lions Club.
He married Katherine
Elizabeth Perry March 4, 1944, in Evant. [Hamilton

Survivors include his wife; two
daughters, Mrs. Saundra Lengefeld of Hamilton and Mrs. Elizabeth

Mrs. Arnold was born in Limestone
County on June 28, 1899, the daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie
Wiliams Erskine. She married Forrest F. Arnold on April 3, 1916, in
Evant. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1982. She lived in Evant
for several years before moving to Carlsbad, N.M. in 1938. She made
the move back to Evant in 1985. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include six children, W. L.
(Buddy) Arnold of Evant, W. F. (Tainey) Arnold of Izora, Eimice
McKenzie of Houston, Lewis Arnold of Eufalla, Okla., Cecil Arnold

Viola Mae Arthur, 86, died Monday, Jan. 18, in Hamilton.
The family received guests at Riley Funeral Home Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Services were set for Thursday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Porter Loring
Funeral Home in San Antonio with Jim Townsend officiating. Burial will be
in the Sunset Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Arthur was born Sept. 13, 1912. She had lived in San Antonio for
many years and moved to Hamilton two years ago. She was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Popham and wife Ann,
Alvin
Popham and wife Opal and Glenn Popham; a daughter, Virginia
Townsend and husband Jim of Hamilton; two sisters, six grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Townsend, Randall Townsend, Bud Daniels,
Daniel Pekar, Ralph Sanz and Robert Ulrich.
ASHMORE, EUGENE RAY

Eugene Ray Ashmore died Jan. 23 at the Hamilton Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Don Paulson officiating. Burial was at Memory Garden of the Valley in
Weatherford. Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.
Mr. Ashmore was born on Sept. 18, 1919 in Lott, the son of George W.
and Martha Ann Rambo Ashmore. He was married to Wandalene Maddox on Dec.
20, 1941.
He was a husband, father and grandfather as well as a veteran of World
War II. He served in the Army in Europe with the infantry. Prior to his
retirement he owned and operated a service station in Midland and was a
lifetime member of the D.A.V. He made his home in Hamilton since 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Wandalene Ashmore; three daughters, Teresa
Kay Christensen of Plano, Paula Jean Crabtree of Eureka Springs, Ark. and
Donna June Ashmore of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Robertson
and Heather Golden, both of Austin and Lauren Crabtree of Atlanta, Ga.;
four sisters, Velma Woods of Clifton, Edith Moore of Gustine, Ruby Webb of
Hamilton and Bobbie Farmer of Lake Tawakoni.

William (Bill) J. Ault, 73, of Birds, IL,
died Sunday, April 25 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.
Funeral services were held April 27 at Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat
Rock, IL.
Mr. Ault was preceded in death by his
father, two brothers, two infant sisters, and one infant daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Ault, of
Flat Rock, IL.; four sons, Jim Ault of Hamilton, Chuck and Darrel Ault
of Flat Rock, and Randy Ault of Bluford, IL; four daughters, Connie
Wheatly of Flat Rock, Phyllis Collins of De Motte, Ind., Rita Morgan of
Decatur, IL., and Billie Ralston of Bridgeport, ILL; his mother, Anna
(Ault) David of Russellville, IL., Rosa Candler of Vincennes, Ind., and
one brother, Roy Ault of Lone Rock, Wis; 15 grandchildren; three step
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

AYCOCK, CECIL , JR.

Cecil Aycock Jr., 62, of Midland, died in
Hico on Saturday, July 9. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's
Episcopal Church in Hamilton with Father Ron Baker officiating, and
Montgomery Cottier, a personal friend, giving the eulogy. Services were
held Wednesday, July 13, with burial at the family farm in the
Providence community.
Mr. Aycock was born July 26, 1925, in Hico.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War ll and received a naval
science and tactics degree from the University of Texas in Austin in
1946. He also received a degree in geology from the University of
Oklahoma in 1948. He and his wife, Edith Anne, were married in June
1946. The couple moved to Midland in 1948 where he worked as a geologist
with the Texas Pacific Coal and Oil Co. He became an independent
geologist in 1956.
Mr. Aycock was a charter member of St.
Mark's United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the
American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
Survivors include his wife of Midland; a
son, Stephen Aycock of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Terry Ensign of
Houston and Judith Anne Aycock of Midland; his mother, Mamie B. Key of
Hamilton; a sister, Virginia Rambie of Irving; and six grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be directed to
the Midland Association of Retarded Citizens.

AYERS, DOROTHY FAY (FRANKLIN)

Mary Dorothy Fay (Franklin) Ayres, 78, died Nov. 19. Funeral services
were held Nov. 22 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville with the
Rev. Douglas Pete Schults and Rev. Willie Clarke officiating. Burial was
at Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Ayres was born April 10, 1921 in Union Valley, Coryell County to
Ulla and Mary Ettie Bates Franklin. She attended schools in Ewing, Owl
Creek and Maple and graduated from Gatesville High School.
She was married to Robert Joseph Ayres Sept. 20, 1940 and was a
homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville, a
past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Betty Martin
Chapter and the Central Texas Doll Club.
An infant sister, Freda, her father and her mother preceded Mrs. Ayres
in death.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Ayres of Gatesville; a son, Robert
Dale Ayres of Bonham; four daughters, Mary Reeter of Odessa, Doris Turner
of Bryan, Pat Kasting and Bobbie Tippett, both of Gatesville; three
sisters, Winnie Frattone of Skokie, Ill., Betty Ruth Taylor of Temple,
Yula Lee "Frankie" Anderson of Midland; nine grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
