Ford, Preston Smith Brooks
and Marie Paille
My gg-grandparents were Preston Smith Brooks Ford
and Marie Paille. He died June 7, 1897 in Worth County, leaving Marie
with two children: Sara Mae Ford (b.1893) and William Jackson Ford (b. 1894). In
1898, administration of PSB Ford's will was transfered to Spalding County where
Marie took up residence. In the Spalding County Ordinary Court Minutes,
the following petition from Marie (Paille) Ford (for which an order was later
granted) states:
Georgia, Worth County
To the Honorable J W Rice, Ordinary of said County:
The petition of Mrs. Marie Ford, a citizen of said State aforesaid and the widow
of PSB Ford, late of said County, deceased, who departed this life on or about
the 22nd day of June 1897, and as Petitioner believes, [illegible], having an
estate of the probable value of Six Thousand ($6000.00) Dollars. The personalty
consisting of money, notes, livestock, farm supplies, etc...of the probable
value of Two Thousand ($2000.00) Dollars, and realty of the probable value of
Four Thousand ($4000.00) Dollars.
Par 1
That said estate has no legal representative and is
liable to great waste and to deteriorate in value
Par 2
That for the benifit of the heirs and creditors said
estate should have a legal representative and be administered upon
Par 3
Wherefore petitioner prays an order appointing her
administratrix of the estate of the said deceased.
