 5th ANNUAL HISTORIC TOUR:
On September 24th, 2005, WCAAHAA will sponsor its fifth annual historical tour to Birmingham Alabama. The community is invited to join the group as it tours Birmingham's Civil Rights Museum and Institute, the Historic Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park.
Among the many attractions that you will see at the Civil Rights Museum and Institute will be the Birmingham jail where MLK, Jr. wrote his famous speech, The Letter From Birmingham Jail, and the Freedom Riders' bus that was bombed in Anniston, Alabama. The Sixteenth Street Baptist Church began the Civil Rights Movement by supporting Rosa Parks and the bus boycott. Also, it is the location of many speeches delivered by MLK, Jr. and the bombing that killed four little African American girls as they prepared for church. Kelly Ingram Park is a park of revolution and reconciliation. It is where many Civil Rights rallies were held and fire hoses and police dogs were turned on the Civil Rights marchers.

This will be a 12-hour bus trip on a D & M Tour Line Luxury Bus with VCR screens.
- Self-guided tour of the Kelly Ingram Park
(audio optional at travelers expense, $5) Bus will board at 6:30AM on Saturday, September 24th at the K-Mart on the corner of Hwy. 2 and Hwy. 27 in Ft. Oglethorpe and return at 7:00PM to the same location.
Registration is $20 for students ages 10-18, and $30 for adults.
