Leeroy Jackson May

Leeroy Jackson May was born in Washington county August 3, 1826 and died at his residence near Warthens in Washington county March 26, 1900. In his 74th year. He joined the Baptist church in Antioch in early life afterward moved his membership to Mineral spring church, where he remained a constant member until his death.He loved his Saviour and he believed he was sinner saved by grace, this he often stated while in conversation with his brethren He was an honored, one armed confederate veteran. He has been married three times many of his neighbors, friends and relatives were present at his burial to pay the last sad tribute to his memory. He leaves a host of relatives and friends besides a wife and seven children and a number of grandchildren to mourn his death. May God comfort the beloved ones, and when life is over with them, may they meet him in that land of an unclouded sky in which there is a rest that remaineth for the people of God.

Asleed in Jesus blessed sleep
From which none ever wake to weep
A calm and undisturbed repose
Unbroken by the last of Foes.
