I Lewis Johnson of the County of Warren and State of Georgia being of Sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament.

Item 1st I desire my body to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner Such as my circumstances in life will permit

Item 2nd I desire all my past debts to be paid by my Executor hereinafter mentioned.

Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my Daughters Narcissa Neal wife of Wm M Neal and Rebecca English wife of Joel English five hundred acres of Land lying in Warren county on Rocky Cornfort (?) Creek known as the Barton place it containing the same more or less adjoining James Kelly Calvin League (or Logue) and other the said Narcissa Neal to have the North West half of the creek and the Said Rebeccas English to have the South East half of remaining half the Said Land to be equally divided between them.

Item 4th I give and bequeath to my Son George W Johnson one hundred and ninety five acres of Land more or less lying on the Gin Branch in Said County known as the Baxter Jorden and Rueben Barton Land and adjoining lands of L B W Caster (or Carter) Peter Usry and others.

Item 5th I give and bequeath to my Son John S Johnson a lot land drawn originally in Early County Geo in the ninth Dist of Land Lotery when drawn by Abel Dye of the 150th (or 130th) dist G M No 294

Item 6th I give and bequeath to my Sons Jessee E Johnson and James W Johnson five hundred acres of Land more or less on the Stamp Branch where I once resided known as the Elheldid (or Etheldid) Thomas and John Barton Land giving to Jessee E Johnson the west side or half and James W Johnson the East or remaining half the said land to equally divided between them

Item 7th all my other real Estate much or little I give and bequeath to my wife Dilla Johnson during her natural life and at her death I desire the same to be sold and equally divided among my children who may serve her.

Item 8th All my personal property consisting of negroes stock of all description money notes and accounts I desire to be sold by my Executor and Equaly divided among my children herein before mentioned

Item 9th I likewise make constitute and appoint my son John S Johnson to be my Excutor of this my last will and Testament hereby revolking all former wills by me made 


In witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand and affix my seal this the twenty seventh of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven

Personally appeared in open court Henry McKinney and James W Usry two of the subscribing witnesses to the written Last will and Testament of Lewis Johnson late of Said County deceased and who being duly and legally sworn Say on oath that they saw the witness named Lewis Johnson sign seal publish and declare the within instrument as his last will and testament in the presence of Thomas J Roberts who also signed as a witness that said Lewis Johnson was there
