I have heard of a possible book, "HISTORY OF LITTLE BRIAR CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH," by Mamie Reese Mathews. Where can I buy a copy? If someone has a copy and will zerox it for me, I will gladly pay the costs. My ancestor, ARCHIBALD SMITH [b. 19 Jan. 1809 & d. 19 Oct. 1887, Coryell Co., TX, and wife Elizabeth A., were living in Warren Co. in 1830 and 1840. In 1850 they were in Sumter Co., GA, living with their daughter (Mary and her husband William J. Hamnel); and back in Glascock Co. in 1860. In 1870 they were in Dale Co., AL and 1880 in TX. Known children: Mary; John [wife Margaret]; Lemuel [my ancestor -- wife, Matilda Irby]; Samuel; Franklin; and Sarah]. There are SMITH'S living on Little Briar Creek, which "may" be kin. I would appreciate any information in this SMITH family. Thanks for your help.

I am researching the family of Moses Smith, b. 1815 and his wife Jane Adams, b 1821. I know Moses Smith's mother was named Eady and that they (Moses, Jane and his mother) are buried on the family homestead. According to records the cemetary is located on Old Warrenton Road about 1 mile from Thomson, near the railroad. I have no definite info on his father but he might be William Owen Smith who died in the 1830-40's, burial site unknown.
I was unable to locate the cemetary during a visit there. Any help would be appreciated.
I also have been unable to identify Jane Adams parents. The 1840 census shows a Rowell Adams living near Eady smith and her son aged correctly to be Moses. There is a female listed with Rowell that could be the correct age group to be Jane.
Moses and Jane had numerous children including my great grandmother, Cassandra (Kate)Smith whjo married James Davis Waddell. They lived in Thomson where he was owner of several merchandising establishments in the 1870-80's.
I hope this may be enough info for someone to help me with Moses' and Jane's parents.

I am trying to rebuild the genealogical work that my grandfather completed. I am looking for the gravesite of George Harris. His wife was Catherine Harriss Harris, and yes that is all spelled correctly. I believe that he moved down here from VA around 1783.
The grave was on the old homesite in Barnett. I believe that it is now a dead town. In 1965 my grandfather visited the homesite and met Mrs. J. F. Quinn(Helen Harris before marriage). One of the sons Robert Harris Quinn was also apparently very helpful according to grandfather's notes.
I would really appreciate any help that I could get locating the gravesite and/or the people mentioned above.
Thanks!
Doug Harris

Trying to sort the early Allen families of Warren County, Georgia. Does anyone have information for Samuel Allen, Sr. or Jr?. They were in Warren County by 1795. One or the other married Elizabeth Walden, daughter of Samuel Walden, Sr. Sherrod Allen seems to be associated with Samuel Allen as well as Shadrick Allen who is found in Pulaski County, Georgia by 1827 with Samuel Walden's other daughter, Tabitha Walden Yearty.
From research in Dan Crumpton's two genealogy books, there are many Allen families associated with Warren County. Has anyone put these Allen's in order from Warren County? Any help is appreciated.

Looking up information on the Brinkley family. John C. Brinkley married Mary Beall on January 27, 1826. She was the granddaughter of Mannam Beall(About 1730-1823) and Frances Lewis (Beall) and the daughter of Samuel Beall(1769-?) and Susannah Boothe (Beall)(Before 1785-?). John C. and Mary had at least six children born in Warren County from 1826 to 1838, based on birth dates of three. I had thought that John C. might have been a brother of Captain Edwin A. Brinkley but have found out that, at best is a second cousin through marriage with the Bealls and maybe through the Brinkley's. Any help as to the families would be greatly appreciated. There is a Baker-Brinkley Cemetery near Beall Springs. What are the directions to it from Warrenton?
