THE BAILEY THEATRE
| Waycross' popular playhouse, Bailey Theatre, was constructed nearly 20 years ago, and for the past four years has been conducted by Mess. A. C. and L. E. Gortatowsky , besides the Bailey Theatre at Waycross, have under their care several other theatres in the growing cities of Georgia, among them being: "The Colonial," Athens, Georgia; "The Rawlins," Albany, Georgia; "The Valdosta," Valdosta, Georgia; "The Bijou," Griffin, Georgia. L. E. Gortatowsky being engaged principally in other business, Mr. A. C. Gortatowsky performs most of the active work connected with the management of the various theatres, and he is considered by theatrical companies one of the best house managers in the State. Mr. Gortatowsky's "Colonial Theatre" at Athens, is a new ground floor theatre, not being surpassed for beauty and appointments by any other house in the South. The "Rawlins," at Albany is also one of the coziest play houses in the Southern States. The local manager for the Bailey Theatre at Waycross is Mr. G. R. Brinson. He is assisted by Mr. W. W. Sharpe, Jr., as assistant manager, and Mr. W. B. Albertson, treasurer. It is the intention of the Gortatowskys to give Waycross at no far distant date a new theatre that will be in keeping with the city. |
