War of 1812

KING, Lewis
b. 1774-1788, in NC (probably)
d. Between 9 Jan 1815 and 30 Apr 1815, Morgan Co, GA
Served in the Morgan Co, GA Militia, Capt. Patrick's Co (same Company as Henry King), 1807-1814
Served as Pvt., War of 1812 (Creek Indian War), Capt. Jesse Thomas' Co, 3 Reg't (Wimberly's) Detached Georgia Militia, 21 Nov 1814 - 9 Jan 1815. Lewis died before 30 Apr 1815 as a result of illness or wounds incurred during this service, and, as a result, Francis Flournoy, guardian of an orphan or orphans of Lewis King, as agent, received a payment from the State of Georgia.

Lewis KING is believed to be the brother of Henry KING, who also served in the Morgan Co, GA Militia and in the War of 1812 (Creek Indian War), and of Mary (KING) VINING, wife of Benjamin VINING, who served as administrator of Lewis' estate. Their mother was Susannah KING, widow, of Burke Co, GA, later Baldwin/Morgan Co, GA. Lewis was survived by his widow, Martha (FLOURNOY) KING, who was enumerated in the 1820 US Census in Putnam Co, GA, and who married 7 Mar 1822 in Putnam Co, GA, Nicholas DIXON. She may have been the daughter of the Francis FLOURNOY who served as guardian of the orphaned children of Lewis KING, deceased.
