Pickett, Alice I am looking for information on my ggrandmother Alice Hortense Bailey. I am posting below all the information I have on her. My grandmother, Annie Kate Pickett, was born on 1017/1897. My grandmothers delayed birth certificate says her mother was born near Quitman, GA. My grandfather William Raines Pickett was born in 1862 in Webster County, GA.

I found this information in the Randolph Co. GA Marriage Records 1828-1922:

Pope, Abner I am looking for any information on Abner Pope, born about 1775 (possibly in North Carolina). Died about 1837 in Georgia. He was my ggggf. Abner is first listed in the 1809 Jefferson Co., Ga tax digeest as owning 200 acres of 3rd quality land. He is also listed the same in 1811 and 1812. In the 1822 & 1923 tax digest for Jefferson Co., Abner is paying taxes on property in Jefferson Co., & Early Co., GA. Abner is confirmed as the father of William P. Pope in Bible record in possession of Mary Ann Faglie Streetman. Therefore, he is also father of Robert Fulton Pope (my gggf). 1. Elizabeth Pope

Richardson, John Looking for information on John Richardson who died in Marion Co. GA between 1830-50. John Richardson most likely came from SC since a lot of the early residents of Marion Co Ga were from there. He is listed as one of the 1st settlers in Marion Co.
John was married to Elizabeth Catherine b. c. 1785-91 SC. She died between 1880-90 in Marion Co. GA. I do not know Eliz. Catherine's surname but do know that her mother was Scots and her father German.
Children:
two children were listed in the household on the 1830 census. Three additional children were named on the 1850 census: Mary b. 1831, Mahala b. 1833, George b. c. 1836. Because of the age of the parents, there could be more than these five.
Mahala Richardson is my line. She married James Clark b. 1808 SC of Marion Co. GA as his second wife. They had three children: James who died at 21 of fever, Susan who married a Mr. Fincher of Doerun, GA, and Ely. Ely was the only child to have children.
Would like to know the date of birth and death of John Richardson, his parents names and the total list of children. Was Eliz Catherine his second wife? Where is he buried? What was Eliz. Catherine's surname? Exactly when was she born? Who were her parents? Any information or clues would be appreciated. Thanks.

Richardson, Dr. Stephen L. I am looking for any info on Dr. Stephen L. Richardson, "prominent physician and surgeon", and his wife Susan Radford Richardson, of Twiggs County. There is a grave marker that belongs to one Amanda M. Beckom, "wife of S.L. Richardson". It predates his marriage to Susan A., so I assume this was his first wife. I think from some of William Benjamin Richardson's (SL & Susan's son) history that they died suddenly on or around 2 Dec 1881. Roberts, Frances Clayton FRANCES CLAYTON is named in an 1896 publication in Limestone Co., Texas as the wife of William ROBERTS, mother of Charles Roberts born in Walker Co., Georgia.

Frances Clayton is believed to have been born ca 1790-1800, possibly in GA or one of the Carolinas. She is believed to be enumerated on the 1830 Monroe Co., GA census in the household of William Roberts, with ten children. Their only son (1 of 10) known by this branch of the family, Charles Roberts, was born 1813 Walker Co. GA, migrated to Texas with his father's brother ca 1833, married Emily Stanley on Feb 4, 1842 in Washington Co. TX, and finally settled and died in Limestone Co., Texas.

SPEAR, Sims W, was born ca 1825 in GA, County Unknown. He married AVY JANE CLIFTON BATES ca 1856 possibly in Cherokee County, Al. Sims W was found on the 1860 Cherokee County, AL census with a wife and two children. I have followed him to his death in California in 1900. Sims W is my maternal great grandfather. I have not been able to trace him back farther than the 1860 Al census. A person answered my posted query about Sims W. and said she had a letter from him to her grandfather, John B Spears. Her gggrandfather was Rawling or Rollin Spears. Rollin had a younger brother by the name of Sims Spears. His statistics don't seem to make him a candidate to be the father of Sims W. Sims W is listed as Rev Sims in CA. The church seems to be The Methodist Episcopalian Church South. The parents and siblings of Sims W are what I have been seeking for some time. SUMRALL, Enoch
Enoch Sumrall b.1812 in Georgia [married Celia 'Sally' Monk 1833 in Alabama] died 1893 in Vancleve, MS.
Enoch is reported on many family sites as being the son of Isaac and Mary Sumrall. Isaac is noted as a 'son' by his father Thomas who left cattle to 'Mary, the widow of my beloved son, Isaac' in his will. I NEED to connect by some documented source, that Isaac is the father of Enoch. Since Isaac is probably dead before Thomas' will was written in 1817, then it is probably safe to assume that Isaac died prior to 1817, probably in 1816. What happened to Isaac's wife and children? Did she perhaps remarry and the children take on the last name of the second husband? And, Isaac; if he is noted as the son of Thomas then he most certainly was born. {listed as b. 1774] but no documents that I can find for his death place or date. If Isaac is the father of Enoch like we think, then there must be a record someplace to show that fact. Anyone researching the Thomas, Isaac, Enoch, Henry, John M, SUMRALL family that can help?

They had the following children: Elizabeth Jane (b 5-3-1835-GA), John Wesley (b 6-6-1838 AL), Wade Austin, (B 8-1-1841in AL), James A Bolton (b 11-15-1847- AL), George Neal (B 3-14-1849-AL), Nancy s (b 1848-AL), Lucinda (b 1844-AL) and Sylvester Parker (b 6-22-1854-AL or MS?). All of the children came to Texas with Ferraby Ann with the exception of Lucinda.
My brick wall is very tall and thick, I have not been able to find any information on Ferraby Ann or John Bolton. Any information or clue would be appreciated.

Thompson, David Sherrell BRICK WALL if ever there was one! A number of kinsmen and a genealogist I hired (who may not have been what he claimed) have looked for years for the father of David Sherrell (b.1820 NC) and Elisha Elcanie (1823) Thompson who came to Mississippi in the mid-1840s. Brother Darrell apparently came also but is said to have been killed somewhere along the way; brother Thomas remained in Toccoa, GA--and he may have been the father of the Thomas A. (b. 1891) who appears in the 1840 census in Toccoa, Stephens County. Both Elisha (my ancestor) and David Sherrell told census takers later that they had been born in NC.
My Great Uncle Sam wrote me many years ago that Uncle Tom wrote my grandfather from Toccoa. The family believed that the father (unknown) may also have settled in Stephens County. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find the missing father and mother? I'm running out of avenues to explore--I've become kissing cousins with most Thompson trees on Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com but can't pin anything down!
Thank you in advance for any consideration! Sally K 7-15-2003

TOLBERT, William M. 1845- sometime after 1900
Early info on this man is very sketchy. He lived in Jackson County, Georgia with his wife Catherine T. and children, William Jack, Joseph Thomas, Hester, and Henry Claude during the 1880 census. Most of us believe he is the Marion and the William mentioned on the 1850 and '60 censuses with Sarah Tolbert. But we have no proof of who his parents really were..only suppositions. We THINK he was the son of William L. Tolbert and Caroline Hutson. He fought with Co. E, 34th regiment GVI during the War Between the States.I cannot find him on any census for Georgia in 1870, nor can I find where or when he married Catherine (Lula)-tho I have been told she was a Martin. His second wife was Mary Wood. He married her in July of 1885 in Jackson Co. He is buried in the Harris-Lord Cemetery in Jackson County. If anyone has any proof of his parentage or any idea where he married Lula--please contact me.

TOMS, Edward Thomas I am searching for any information on the Toms family that lived in Lincoln and Columbia counties, GA, in the early 1800s. Edward Thomas Toms (Tombs) married Jane Garvin in Columbia County, GA, in 1805. Does anyone know who their parents were? Does anyone know what happened to Edward Thomas Toms? Assuming he died young, as he and Jane had only two known children, Edward H. (what does the "H" stand for?) Toms who married Lucy Hunter (no clue as to her parentage???) and Brunetta Toms who married John Lockhart in Lincoln Co., GA. In 1812 a Jane Tombs married a Thomas Willis in Columbia Co., GA. Does anyone know for a certainty that this Jane Tombs is Jane Garvin Tom? If so, did she have children with Thomas Willis? Who are they? Where are Jane and Thomas Willis buried?

TURNER, Bartholomew
My Brick Wall is Bartholomew Turner. He was born ca 1798 (Georgia?) and died 1852 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He married Sarah A. Morgan, daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth Arnold Morgan of Morgan County, GA. Bartholomew and Sarah lived in Morgan and Newton County Georgia before moving to Chambers and Tallapoosa County Alabama sometime before 1840. I have a copy of his Will, and a list of their children, and know that he and Sarah are buried on the Turner Plantation near Dadeville, Alabama. I would like to know who Bartholomews parents and siblings were, and where they were from.
