Mrs. John Booz Passes Wednesday In Hogansville

The many friends of Mrs. John Booz, former Cedartown resident for forty or fifty years, will regret to learn of her death at Hogansville Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services and interment are to be in Hogansville this afternoon.

Mrs. Booz had made her home in Hogansville for the past two years since the death of her husband here. She had been in ill health for many years and leaves many friends, particularly among the older generation, who will regret to learn of her death.

Additional Comments: Mrs. John Booz was the former Myrtis Hudson of Hogansville, daughter of Dr. Gilbert L. and Helen (Buttrell) Hudson. She married William Erasmus Booz on December 20, 1894 in Hogansville. Afterwards, they moved to Cedartown, Polk Co., GA and lived until William's death in December 1939. Myrtis, who was in ill health, moved back to Hogansville to live with her nephews in January 1940.

Myrtis had 3 sisters (Alice b. abt.1862, nothing else known about her; Virginia L. "Jennie" who married Robert Hartsfield Jenkins and Willie who married Alonzo McGahee) and 1 brother (Robert T., b. abt 1868, nothing else known about him). It is unknown where Myrtis is interred, but it is believed that she is buried in Myrtle Hill Cemetery outside Hogansville in an unmarked grave. Her parents, 2 sisters (Jennie and Willie), and their families are buried there in 3 adjoining lots. The Hudson lot has 2 unmarked concrete slabs which are a mystery.
