ROLAND, DAVID (or ROWLAND)-3rd Corporal June 5, 1863. Appointed
Sergeant Sept. or OCt. 1864. Captured at Decatur, Ala., Oct.28, 1864
and sent to Camp Douglas, Ill., prison. Applied to take oath of
allegiance to U.S., claming to have been loyal to the Union and
to have been conscripted into the Confederate Army, Jan. 1865.
Released May 18, 1865.

Nov. 27, 1863, with remark "supposed to be dead." Roll for July-

"taken sick in Florida and sent to Macon, Ga. Released before he
was able for duty. Gave out and left on way. Never heard from. Died of
fever at Apalachicola, Fla., Aug. 1863" (Born in 1823)
