100th Anniversary

Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Butler, GA, 1868-1968, Pastor - Rev. Zack L. Perdue

The church was accepted into Friendship Association in 1869 with 19 members, transferring into Columbus Association in 1917 and into Rehobeth Association in 1954.

It is not know whether the first log cabin was built for a church or school house. It was used by both. A church was dedicated here in 1886. The same year two acres of land were deeded to Mt. Pisgah Church by George W. Locke. This was believed to have been a frame building remodeled in 1909 and is the foundation of the present church which was rebuilt in 1951.

Several hundred have been members, at one time or another. The present membership is 132.
