MRS. EMMA WELCH, 92, SUMMONED BY DEATH
In the death Wednesday morning of Mrs. Emma Welch, which
occurred at the home of her son, Mr. J. W. Welch, near
Fincherville, Butts county loses one of its oldest and most widely
beloved women. She had been in declining health for some time and
only a few days ago suffered a stroke of paralysis. Her passing will
bring deep regret to a host of friends.
Mrs. Welch, who was 92 years of age, was the widow of a
Confederate soldier. She was a member of Sardis Baptist church,
being one of the oldest members. She was widely beloved for her many
fine qualities of character.
Mrs. Welch is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Claude Allen,
of McDonough; two sons, Messrs. R. F. and J. W. Welch, both
of Jackson, and twenty-two grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held Thursday afternoon at 3
o'clock at Sardis church, with Rev. George W. Hulme, of
Locust Grove, officiating. Interment will take place in the family
lot in the churchyard.

1866 in Spalding Co., GA.
