The McCutcheon Family

The McCutcheon Family

The Spalding County GAGenWeb Project

Sure do like the Spalding CO. Web. site. Under the Military section Revolutionary War pages I Found my GG-Grandfather William McCutchen.

The Monument has his name spelling as McCutcheon.I have family records back to the late 1600 and early 1700 of this family in VA. I also have a copy off the net of a Monument located at the North Mountain Burying Ground in VA. that list 14 McCutchens buried there and among them is William McCutchen's father Robert McCutchen. The Monument states, Here ARE BURIED PIONEER SETTLERS, FRENCH 7 INDIAN AND REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERANS.

William was born Nov. 11 1760 in Augusta CO. VA. Was a Pvt. in Augusta Co. VA. Militia, Died Oct 27 1827 Henry Co. ( Spalding ) GA. Buried Moran Cemetery, Spalding Co. GA. Can you tell me the location of this cemetery? I stopped in Griffin last Thursday and took pictures of the Monument and would like to find the graves of William and his wife Ann.

I have info. on William's will and his Obituary from the Georgia Journal 1827. If you know any  one interested in this McCutchen line I will be glad to share info. My Mother was a McCutchen.

My name is Frank Hamilton. Email: lizham (at) plantationcable (dot) net
