Robert Leach and Bell McCord Marriage

Jackson Argus - Week of April 9, 1897
Leach - McCord

Mr. Robert Leach and Miss Bell McCord were married near Jackson some time yesterday. The young couple are residents of Griffin and found opposition to their union on account of their youth. A license was procured from the ordinary on Friday night and they attempted to get Rev. D. J. Harris to tie the knot, but he refused on account of the apparent youth of the couple. The secured a buggy and started to Jackson that night and from the best information we can get were married as stated above. It is said that neither of the contracting parties are over sixteen years of age. Griffin News

Jackson Argus - Week of March 25, 1897
Westmoreland - Penn

At the residence of B. D. Brewster, Esq., in Africa district, at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, Miss Ada Penn, of this place and Joseph Westmoreland, of Africa district, were quietly married in the presence of a few friends and relatives, Judge Brewster officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. M. J. Penn, and is endowed with many superior domestic virtues that qualify her for the wifely position. While the groom is a young farmer, a son of J. C. Westmoreland, of this county, and eminently fitted for life's battle, with manly energy and pluck.

The marriage was not a runaway, the young couple selecting this method through choice as there was not parental objection.
