DEATH AMOUNGST US
During a very few days past, the Angel of death has plied his
sickle with no idle hand.
On Saturday the 8th inst. Dr. Benj. F. Carter late
Representative from the county of Murray died at the residence of
his father, Col. F. Carter, of consumption. Dr. C. was a
most estimable young man, and his premature death is deplored by
all who knew him.
On Tuesday the 11th Mr. Richard F. Budd, proprietor of the
Washington Hall in this city died. Mr. Budd had been a citizen at
this place only a short time. He came, we believe, from Canada. He
was an old man.
On the night of the same day, Dr. Holmes, assistant
Physician of the Lunatic Asylum died of Pneumonia, at the
residence of Dr. T. F. Green. Dr. Holmes we believe was
originally from Floyd county Ga. He was an estimable young man,
with a bright promise of future usefulness and distinction.
On the same day Mr. Chas. Jenkins, an aged man, was drowned
in the Oconee opposite the city.
On the 15th inst., Mrs. Mary M. Cotting, wife of Dr.
John R. Cotting, formerly State Geologist, of Pneumonia
