Tribute of Respect Pine Grove Lodge Henry County At a called meeting, we the following committee, to who was referred the duty of preparing suitable resolutions expressive of the memory of our dear beloved Brother, who departed this life Nov. 26th, 1856, suddenly with an attack of apoplexy, we will respectfully submit the following. We are reminded of the uncertainty of life and the uncertainty of death - - that we live in a land of shadows, a fruitful field of flaming promises alone. We had every reason to believe that our brother, c. W. black, lived the life of a good mason; and that he is gone and the struggles of reluctant nature over, his body sleeps in death, and the soul returned to God, to Paradise; but there is no appeal or relief from the great law which dooms us to dust. We flourish and fade as the leaves of the forest. In the death of our departed brother, we lost one of our brightest jewels; his wife a loving husband, and his doting mother an obedient son. And in token of our sincerity, be therefore… Resolved That, we deeply sympathize with the bereaved family of our deceased brother in their irreparable loss. Resolved That, in respect for the memory of the deceased, we will wear the usual badge of mourning on our left arm, for thirty days. Resolved, That the Secretary furnish the family of the deceased brother with a copy of these resolutions. Also to the Empire State, and the American Union for publication.
