Schley County High School 1917-1975

The attached picture was the Schley County High School that was built in 1917 and demolished c1975. I say circa because that's the date of demise listed in Schley County History. 1917-1975. School may have been called Ellaville High School in earlier years. The attached picture was taken from the west and slightly north. The front of the school facing College St. is in the left of the pic. The small light colored square at the top center of the bldg. states: 1917 or Est 1917 . The rear portion of the bldg was the school auditorium and I'm not sure if it was part of the original or added later. I know it was there in the early '50s.

The spot where the photographer is standing is only a few yards from a row of pecan trees where I was picking up pecans at recess when I heard that President Kennedy had been shot.
