Quigley (My Maternal Side)

Isaac Quigley was born February 3rd, 1763 in Nottingham, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Isaac Quigley married Amy Gale (1768 - 1848), my 5th great grandparents, and through that union they had nine children: Amigi (? - 1849), Elizabeth (? - ?), Samuel (1792, 1860), Elijah (1796 - 1887), Isaac (1800 - 1849), Robert (1802, 1868), my 4th great grandfather, Thomas (1807 - ?), John (1810 - ?), William  (1814 - 1860).  Isaac Quigley died on September 10th, 1850 in Leoni Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  Amy (Gale) Quigley died on May 11th, 1848 in Napoleon Township, Jackson County, Michigan.

Robert Quigley was born February 22nd, 1802 in Pennsylvania.  Robert Quigley married Ezuba Hamilton (1810 - 1876), my 4th great grandparents, in the year 1826 in Steuben County, New York and through that union they had nine children: Bemis Hamilton (1827 - ?), Emma J (1830 - ?), Alma J (1833 - 1913), Sydney Rigdnon (1836 - 1914), Warren George (1837 - 1922) my 3rd great grandfather, Cyrus R (1841 - 1919), Edwin J (1845 - 1917), Clara F (1848 - 1867), Frank (1852 - 1859).  Robert Quigley died on October 3rd, 1868 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois.  Ezuba (Hamilton) Quigley died in July of 1878 in Fulton County, Illinois according to the Saint's Herald Obituaries 1878 page 256 which reads "Ezuba Quigley joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832.  She crossed the plains with the migrating pioneers.  She was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1871."

Ezuba Hamilton's sister Clarissa married Phineas Young, Brigham Young's brother.  Robert Quigley was united with the Mormon Church in 1832.  Brigham Young provided security for Bemis Hamilton Quigley  when Bemis and his partner George Bartholomew brought their "Golden West Circus"  to Salt Lake City ("Reminiscences of a Railroad Telegraph Operator" by Robert L. Quigley*).  Robert Quigley is listed as one who was blessed at Kirtland, Ohio on March 7th, 1835 for his working on the House of the Lord.  Robert even named a son Sydney Rigdon after one the leaders of the church.

On June 15th, 1837 Robert Quigley received a patent for his purchase of 80 acres of land in Jackson County, Michigan.  Robert lived in Jackson County, Michigan until the mid 1840's when Robert and three of his sons are listed as being at the Winter Quarters in Nebraska.

Between the years 1846 and 1848 Robert Quigley along with three of his sons (Bemis, Alma and Sidney) stayed at the Winter Quarters.  Note: the "earlylds.com" web page is currently marked as unsafe as its security certificate is not up to date.  So I will insert a clip here of what you would see on that site (so you won't be tempted to do something un-secure).

Warren George Quigley was born May 9th 1837 in Jackson County, Michigan.  Warren George Quigley married Martha M Marshall, my 3rd great grandparents, about 1864 in Fulton County, Illinois and from that union they had 14 children: Frank H (1865 - ?), William Delno (1866 - 1914), my 2nd great grandfather, Robert (1869 - 1919), Walter J (1870 - 1943), George W (1873 - ?), Melvin (1875 - aft 1931), John Carl (1877 - 1960), Clara E (1879 - 1944), Ollie M (1880 - ?), Jesse L (1883 - 1908), Fay (1885 - 1965), Lewis D (1886 - 1958), Alice (1889 - 1936), Sydney A (1891 - ?).

William Delno Quigley was born November 12th, 1866 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois.  William Delno Quigley married Mary Adaline "Mollie" Clemmer, my 2nd great grandparents, on November 20th 1887 and from that union they had two children: Lawrence Delno "Don" Quigley (1889 - 1957), great grandfather, and Carl C Quigley (1893 - 1942).

Lawrence Delno "Don" Quigley was born October 20th, 1889 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois.  Lawrence Delno "Don" Quigley married Mabel Beatrice Stevers Farmer on April 27th, 1908 in Mason County, Illinois and from that union they had six children: Oden Sue (1909 - 1976), Lyle Winford (1912, 1989), my grandfather, Donald Willard (1916 - 1979), Edgar Austin (1918 - 2003), Mabel F (1923 - 1995), Nina Dean (1924 - 1999).

Lyle Winford Quigley was born January 22nd, 1912 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois.  He married Marjorie Marion Jones, my grandparents, on October 10th, 1933 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois and from that union had one child: (Living name withheld).
