According to the August 21, 1822 edition of  the Augusta Chronicle & Georgia
Gazette, “Miss F. D. Hicks” was to open a school on January 1, 1823 at Mt.
Airy on the Milledgeville Road, fourteen miles above Augusta.”  I suspect this
is probably "Francis D. Hicks" who in the March 22, 1822 edition of that
same newspaper is listed as one of the people who has a letter remaining at
the at the post office.

For a variety of reasons, I believe this Francis D. Hicks is related to my
g.g.g.grandfather, Thomas Hicks, but have not been able to find any information
re her ancestry. She is probably the same Francis D. Hicks who married
John M. Tatom:
