An ongoing project
for the Society is to scan all the past Quarterlies onto disk in order
to be able to print new copies of the Quarterlies when an original is no
longer available. This is a time consuming task and as of now only two
people have scanners and are able to work on it. As we scan the Quarterlies
we are adding Table of Contents, Full name indexes and correcting the scanned
copies as needed. If you have a scanner and any of the past Quarterlies
please volunteer to scan these quarterlies and e-mail them to me.
We are completely out of many of the quarterlies and only have the "Master
Copy" of these. We will furnish you with the quarterly and you may
keep the copy of any Quarterly you scan that you don't have.
In order to update the past Quarterlies we need help.
Information for ordering past Quarterlies is listed above.

Floyd Co., Ga. Marriages
- The Early Years 3d Ed. 1834-1884
© 1983,1989, 1995
This transcription of the first four Floyd Co., Ga., marriage books covers the years 1834 to 1884 and contains slightly over 5,000 marriages, and supersedes all previous efforts. The Third Edition embodies additional corrections and amplifications of the 1983 transcription which resulted from working with early Floyd County records. These records, taken from the official county records, are listed alphabetically by the groom's surname. The full name Index contains an alphabetical listing of the bride's surname. An asterisk indicates black persons as noted on the marriage record. Following the marriage date is the volume and page number where that record is found. The last column contains the cemetery number where one or both marriage partners are buried. A few newspaper marriage notices not included in the official county records have been integrated into the main body of this edition for quicker reference. This hardback volume contains 132 pages and measures approximately 22 X 28.5 cm. |

Floyd Co., Ga. Miscellany
- Vol. III 3rd Ed. © 1986,1991, 1997
Vol. III, a continuation of the author's two earlier works,
also begins work in a different area, Court of Ordinary Minutes. A 1986
transcription of the 1840 Floyd Co. Census forms Section Two. Section Three,
Battey's Settlers, is an alphabetical list of the adult settlers mentioned
in Battey's A History of Rome and Floyd County between the creation of
Floyd Co. and 1860. Sections Four and Five, transcription of Marriage Books
G and H, 1900-1908, contain about 3,573 marriages. Arrangement is the same

Floyd Co., Ga. Records
- Vital Statistics 2nd Ed.
Combined Vol. V 1930-1935 & Vol. VI 1936-1940 © 1988, 1995 Beginning in August, 1930, the Rome News - Tribune published as a
regular feature Vital Statistics from the Floyd County Department of Health.
This record of births and deaths in Floyd County is taken from these accounts.
Volume V covers the years 1930 to 1935 with Volume VI carrying the record
forward 1936 to 1940. A few of the births are from delayed birth certificates
and reach back into the 1880's. Volume V and Volume VI are combined in
one binding. The first section covering county deaths gives the name of
the deceased, age, place of residence, date of death and the cemetary (by
number). The second section of county births includes name of parents,
maiden name of the mother, place of residence, date of birth, and sex of
child. When twins were born, the sex of the children was not given. In
cases where the mother's maiden name was not included, it sometimes could
be located in county marriage records, and is enclosed in parenthesis.
Following the section of births is a full-name index of the mothers' maiden
names.

Floyd Co., Ga. 1890 -
A Census Substitute - Vol. VII © 1990
The 1892 Tax Digest was one source used as a basis for this
census substitute. The 1892 Floyd County Tax Digest is arranged by militia
districts with whites and blacks listed separately. Defaulters are given
after those who paid. As individuals were already in rough alphabetical
order there was no reason to maintain original order.

Floyd Co., Ga. Confederates
- Vol. VIII © 1992
This effort is the authors' compilation of the names of those
Confederates who served from Floyd Co., Ga. First are given the names from
the 1866 Floyd County Tax Digest (to indicate who returned home, and incidentally
to name former slaves in probably the first place they were listed by name.)
Then follows the main text, an alphabetical listing of all known Floyd
Co. Confederates, assembled from all extant rosters, obituaries, tombstone
inscriptions, roll of Confederate Veterans' Camp #368, pension records,
newspaper accounts, and Cross of Honor Lists. Where possible the Confederate
is identified in the 1860 Floyd census, in the 1866 Tax Digest, in marriage
records, unit reports. An appendix of Polk County Confederates follows:
Pensioners and veterans identified in cemetery records.

Myrtle Hill Cemetery -
Obituaries and Interments - Vol. IX © 1997

with surveys of the cemetery, one of Rome's oldest, done by Geo. M. Battey
in the 1920s and 1950s plus the one done by the Northwest Georgia Historical
and Genealogical Society in the early 1980s, and the City of Rome interment
books of Myrtle Hill. Other public records are incorporated in the abstracts
when appropriate.

Early Years. All pre-1940 marriages from marriage books T, U, V, and W
are included. The transcription was made from the official court records
