married someone of those surnames?

Kathy Edwards. Is there any
way to tell who the parents of Asberry and Edward H. Edwards of Murray
Co., GA in 1840-50 is. I think maybe Abel was there in
1830. There was one Abel in Whitfield Co. by 1853 I think and he
said he was the son of Joseph Edwards of Franklin Co., GA. They
probably got their land throught the Land Lotteries. Any idea
where in SC these Edwards were born, Asberry in 1822 SC and Edward H.
in about 1816. Edward H. applied for a license...probably for a tavern
and he was listed as a merchant in one census....and I think he was
also a Justice of the Peace in Whitfield Co. later or maybe that was
another Edward H. What is the best way to find the parentage of these
two? Any ideas appreciated.
Melinda.

been buried in a Cherokee graveyard, if there is such a thing in Murray

Cemetery. Can you please confirm or deny this?
David Pinson. I am trying to
locate information on my family's time in Murray County. My
grandfather was born in Cisco, his name John C PINSON. His father
was Julius L Pinson who seems to have grown up in the area having been
born in Ducktown TN. Julius's father was Richard or perhaps
listed as M.R. Pinson, his mother Becky or Rebecca Tatum Pinson.
He was likely in the lumbering industry in the late 1800s and she was
living on the Jack's River as late as 1930. They had three sons,
Marion and Oscar, plus my great-grandfather and two daughters whose
name I do not know but who both married men named GOODE. I am
looking for any information about them, if you have it. Thanks
Lana Floyd. James S. BROWN, my

Kathy Edwards. I am
searching for the parents of Asberry EDWARDS who was in the 1850 Murray
Co., GA census. In that census, Eadey was listed as age 69 which
means she was probably his mother. There was an Eddy in the 1840
Habersham Co., GA census. How close are these two counties?
Do you have any information on Eadey Edwards b. about 1781. Any
information appreciated.
Kelley Cooper McClure.
I am working on my DAR and DRT applications and need proof that John
Douglas HOLBROOK (b. 1787 VA, d. after 1850 and married 1815) is Thomas
Perry Holbrook's (b. 1820 Dalton, Murray Co, Georgia, d. 1898 Aquilla
Hill Co, TX) father. Where could I look to find this information?
Kathy Clayton. I am
looking for any information on the MORSE line that lived in Murray
county. B.J. MORSE or R.S. MORSE is listed on the 1840 census. I am
specifically looking for the names that were in the family, land
records, birth records, marriage records, etc. I am trying to find a
Uriah Morse that served in the Captain Allen's volunteers in the
Florida Wars. I am looking for a marriage for a Morse,
specifically a Uriah Morse. I don't have a middle name, it might have
been Rufus. That was a family name he used for more than one of his
children., He was part of the Georgia Volunteers in the Florida Wars
(Second Seminole War possibly) . He was possibly married in Georgia.
His wife was born in Georgia, a Mary or T M. She's listed as both on
different census years. They had at least one surviving child that was
born in Georgia, an Ann. I appreciate the help, I am at a road block.

the Abeaham Hilton line of Union and Lumpkin Counties and the Peter
Hilton line of Cass County. They are brothers and of Native
American ancestry. We need more records, deeds, or other sources
on Jahial to confirm that he was a part of our family--any help is
appreciated. His sons participated in the Civil War, and those
records are also on Footnote.

Chris Harrison. I
currently live in Murray County. My mother's side of the family was
originally from the Dial/Newport area near the Toccoa River. They moved
to Murray County sometime between 1930-1940. My great grandparent's
names were Newton and Rachael WARD. They are buried at the cementary
located on Doublehead Gap and the Forestry Service road. Do you have
any information concerning my family? Thank you for your help.
Lorraine Margulies. I
am trying to locate any info on my grandparents. They are Floyd
ROBERTS 1882-1956 married to Ruby Roberts 1898-1938. I already
found that they are buried in the Center Valley Cemetery. They
are originally from Dalton Ga. My mother always told me that she
was from Fort Mountain and they lived in the country. What I
would really like to know is who is the birth father of Ruby. Her
mother is Viola CHAPMAN from Dalton who then married a Mr. DUNN.
As Viola was raped as a young woman, I do not know the real father of
Ruby who was raised by her stepfather. Any help at
all finding out who my blood grandfather is would be stupendous.
My aunt said that he had to leave town to prevent jail time.
Viola died about 1959. Thank you so much, I know this is a
difficult task.
Marilyn Wetherington.
Are there any persons in Murray who will do paid research? I live
in FL and Murray Co., GA is an all day drive for me. Gas alone would be
$150, so I am willing to pay well for a person's time.
My TURNER ancestors drew land in the 1832 GA Land Lottery. They
were orphans of Ephraim Turner, we think, and drew Lot 119,
District 12, of Section 3. I have studied this particular lot and the
Old Federal Road ran through the middle of Lot 119. It was officially
awarded to the orphans in November of 1847, obviously when they were
all grown. Since they did not move to Murray Co., GA, they had to have
sold the lot after 1847 and someone somewhere was paying the taxes on
the lot. I did a quick search at the GA Archives and came up with
nothing. The records indicate that Ephraim lived in Emanuel Co., GA
when the lottery took place; he did die in Emanuel Co. in 1832.
However, he was in Laurens Co. as late as 1828 and the other Turners
that were related to him were all in Laurens, then Irwin Co., GA. The
problem is that Stephen Turner died in 1818 leaving children not named
and then Ephraim died in 1832 leaving unnamed children. We have a group
of children, but have no idea who belonged to which Turner male.
Stephen was never even on a census so we have no idea HOW many children
he had, but the land drawn was for his orphans. That lot was in Irwin
Co. and it reverted, so that is a dead end. Our only hope for learning
which children belonged to which Turner male is to trace the land
records in Murray Co., GA. If you know of anyone who can help me, would
you please let me know.

away in 1960 and Dorothy C Rose, also passed away in 1960. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.
Mildred Vander Hoeven. I
am searching for information on Andrew J and Louisa J LEE/LEA. In
the census the name is spelled both ways so I am not sure which is
correct. I believe Louisa J. could be my grandfather's
sister. In 1900 she, with a daughter Louisa J, are living in
Doogan, GA. I found the family in 1860, 70 and 80 Murray Co
census. Their children were Harriet, Judge B, Malissa A, Evan F,
Louisa Jane and Sarah. As far as I can tell none of the towns
exists today. Are their marriage records available for Murray Co?
Carolyn
Garrett. Looking for any information about J A BUCHANAN from
Georgia to Plano, TX. Married and had 14 children. His wife
was either Indian or part Indian. I am their great
granddaughter.
Phyllis Armour. I am
really stumped on this family and need help. On the 1880 census, in my
Jesse Decker family, it shows his wife as Jane. They have 2 boys,
Charley and William. Lucy Burkett is living with them . Lucy is Jesse's
sister-in-law so that means she is Jane's sister. There are 2
children named Andrew and William who are suppose to be my grandfathers
nephews. That would make Lucy their mother. In later
records in Mcminn, TN where my family Jesse and Jane Decker lived it
shows they married in 1877 in Mcminn TN and Henry Burkett was
Jane's brother; yet I do not see her listed under other
family records that the Burketts have posted. Her parents were
Abraham Burkett and Dorcas York. Can you help me with this? Also I
think I have found the death place for Lucy. It was Hamilton County,
TN. Thanks for any help you can give me. I seem to have
lost my Jesse Decker after 1900.

Todd. I am looking for
information about my Great Grandfather Robert S. DUNN 1874-1911.
He was killed in 1911 by a Government revenue tax collector (as the
verbal story goes). He was operating an unlicensed still and the
government came knocking for their share (pre-Prohibition). Seems
to me that a story like this would have been recorded in local
newspapers. Any corroborating or contrary information would be
greatly appreciated.
Lynn Ware Spratling. I
am searching for J M MILLER born in North Carolina in 1828 married
Sarah E born in 1827 in NC also. My research indicates that they

married my 2nd great grandfather Jim WARE (which I know nothing

James M. Stanfield.
I'm seeking birth information for Caroline BOYETT (middle initial
unknown), ostensibly born November 27, 1823 in Murray, GA. The spelling
of her name (first and last), the date of birth and the location
(Murray) are all quite consistent across many, many family trees that I
have reviewed. However, none of the 100+ "hints" or other family trees
in the Ancestry.com environment have been
able to find the name(s) or any other information about her parents.
She ended up marrying my paternal great-great-grandfather and
her branch of the family tree is at a dead end beyond her birth in
Murray. (sorry, that almost sounds like a bad pun) Can you
help fill in this missing blank? Just the names of her parents would be
an awesome help. Additional information is a bonus!!
