I then sailed to Duebeck Lower Canada where he lived for 6 or 8 weeks and then removed to East Poultney where he remained from August to November then to Baltimore and resided there something like 2 years then to Virginia and from thence through North and South Carolina and located in Augusta where I remained for a time from thence I came to Forsyth in Monroe County (Georgia) and settled here in April last and still reside here September 16, 1835. Larceny from the house and Plea of Guilty 

The defendant James Parker a free person having filed a plea of guilty in the above stated case it is ordered by the court that defendant be taken from the bar of this court to the common jail of said county where he shall be safely kept until turned over to the justices of the inferior court of said county and in case said justices of said court upon the recommendation of the grand jury organize  (p.26) a chain gang in and for the county of Monroe then it is ordered by the court that the said defendant be placed in custody of said court to be employed in said chain gang for and during the space of nine months and in default of said chain gang being organized it is further ordered that said defendant be sent under sufficient guard to be punished by the governor of this state by whom said defendant shall be kept at constant and diligent employment on the public works of this state as the governor may direct for said space of nine months and at the expiration of said time to be discharged.         T.O. Assault and Battery - Upon hearing the testimony of the witnesses in the case of the State versus William Gary charged with the offence of assault and battery, and considering the same, the Court finds the defendant guilty of assault.  Whereupon it is adjudged by the Court that the defendant, William Gary do pay a fine of eleven dollars and forty cents and costs of prosecution and thence be discharged.    By the court,    T. In the above case, William Gary the defendant, in open court declares that he waives an indictment or presentment by a grand jury and arraignment trial by a petit jury and consents that the county judge may hear and determine the case in which the defendant stands charged with the offense of assault and battery.  William X (his mark) Gary

Simple Larceny - Plea of not guilty - The defendant Mingo Ponder a free person of color having been tried before a jury regularly empanelled and a verdict of guilty returned, it is ordered by the court that the defendant be taken from the bar of this court to the common jail of said county where he shall be safely kept until turned over to the justices of the inferior court (p.30 -31) of said county and in case said justices of said court upon the recommendation of the grand jury organize a chain gang in and for the county of Monroe then it is ordered by the court that the said defendant be placed in custody of said court to be employed in said chain gang for and during the space of five (5) months and in default of said chain gang being organized it is further ordered that said defendant be sent under sufficient guard to be punished by the governor of this state by whom said defendant shall be kept at constant and diligent employment on the public works of this state as the governor may direct for said space of five (5) months and at the expiration of said time to be discharged.    T.O. Britt heir at law of Drury Britt, deceased came into court and proved in due form of law that he is the only lawful heir of his brother Drury Britt deceased who was a soldier in the late army of the United States in the 20th regiment of Infantry who enlisted in the State of North Carolina and it is believed soon after marched to the Canada lines where he died. Whereupon the court ordered a certificate thereof (to wit) of him the said Elisha D.           William C. Hanson, having intermarried with Martha G. McCurry who was guardian of Sarah C. McCurry and Mary J. McCurry, minors and orphan children of James McCurry, deceased, and having given bond and security as guardian of said minors in right of his wife, whose letters abated by her said marriage, and letters of guardianship accordingly having been granted to her by the ordinary of Pike county, and said William C. Hanson, having removed said minors to this county, and having petitioned this Court to give bond as guardian as aforesaid in this county, and having filed in this office an exemplification from the Ordinary of Pike County of all the proceedings in said County of Pike in relation to said guardianship and having tendered George W. Hanson and Francis M. Hanson as his securities.  It is therefore adjudged and ordered by the Court that said William C. Hanson give bond and security, as guardian as aforesaid in the sum of sixteen hundred dollars and that his securities above tendered be approved and accepted, and that future he make his returns to this court.

Willingham, Wm. M. Willingham and George C. Willingham, children of Isaac Willingham of Monroe County, Georgia are entitled to a legacy under the last will and testament of ELI GARRETT late of Lincoln County Georgia, dec'd. - and the said Isaac Willingham has applied to this Court for letters of Guardianship of the property of his said children, and has given bond in the sum of $25,000.00 twenty-five thousand dollars with Charles D. Bostick & Wesley F. Hencely securities, which bond and securities are approved of by the Court and he having taking the oath in such cases provided.  It is ordered that the said Isaac be and is hereby appointed Guardian of the property of his said children and that letters do issue accordingly.

Alston, deceased, has given legal notice in a public gazette weekly for two months of his intention to apply to said Court for leave to sell all the real estate belonging to said estate lying in said County; and that such sale will be to the interest and benefit of the heirs and creditors of said Estate - It is therefore ordered by the Court that such sale do take place upon said administration giving legal notice of the same for the space of forty days and upon his compliance with all the requirements of the statute in such case made and prove did.

Allen who is this day appointed GUARDIAN of the person and property of Julia Ann Woolsey and illegitimate  child, acknowledging by the same by his acceptance of said appointment, and of Letters of Guardianship of this date, shall well and truly maintain, clothe and educate said Orphan according to her circumstance, and shall take good and _____ care of her person and property, according to the laws of this State, and shall annually make a just and true return of all his actings and doings herein, unto the said Ordinary, and pay over all assets that may remain in hand when said Guardianship shall legally terminate, then this Obligation to be void, else remain in full force.  In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the day and year above written.  John L.
