Obituary of Ella Dawson Faircloth as written on page 4 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 30 Mar 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. W. M. Faircloth, lovingly known by hundreds of friends all over the county as "Miss Ella" died early Monday morning in Cuthbert where she had been living for the past several months with her sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ivey. She had been in ill health the last several years but remained fairly active despite her eighty years and frail health. She was taken sick early Monday morning at her sister's home and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital where she was rushed immediately. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Hopeful Baptist Church at three o'clock with the pastor, Rev. W. H. Rittenhouse, Sr., officiating at the final rites for one of the church's most devoted members. Serving as pallbearers were Glynn West, L. H. Hays, Paul Parker, Charles Parker, Louie Taylor, Jr., and Thomas Thornton. Interment was in the Hopeful cemetery by the side of her husband, W. M. (Bill) Faircloth, who preceded her in death about ten years ago. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Faircloth was born on November 19, 1875, in Randolph County, Ga., the daughter of the late Jasper A. Dawson and Pharobie Nichols Dawson. She spent most of her life in and around Hopeful community of Mitchell County where she and her late husband took prominent part in all community affairs. She and her husband worked a good many years as operators of a curb market in Camilla and Mrs. Faircloth had enjoyed membership in the Cherokee Garden Club of Camilla in recent years. Mrs. Faircloth was one of the oldest if not the oldest continuous subscriber to The Camilla Enterprise and apparently expecting to live some while longer had mailed in her renewal just about three or four days before her death. This is a fact established in recent years by both Mrs. Faircloth and The Camilla Enterprise and she seemed to enjoy the distinction. Survivors include her one sister with whom she had been living in recent months, Mrs. A. J. Ivey of Cuthbert; three brothers, J. W. Dawson of Cuthbert, A. W. Dawson of Coleman and C. E. Dawson of Bluffton; four nieces and one nephew.
Obituary of William R. Miller as written on page 6 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 27 Apr 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at four o'clock at Mispah Primitive Baptist Church for William R. Miller, age 86, who died at his home near Pelham on Sunday April 22. Elder Earl Childs, of the Mispah Church, where Mr. Miller held membership officiated at the last rites and interment was in the cemetery there. He was laid to rest by the side of his wife, the former Mary Brock, who preceded him in death on April 2, 1924. Mr. Miller was a retired farmer and lived on Rural Route Three out from Pelham. Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers. Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham was in charge of arrangements. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J. R. Lodge, Sr., of Pelham; Mrs. Eva Whigham of Pelham and Mrs. Ruth Cobb of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, J. Hansel Miller of Pelham and Joe Hill Miller of Mt. Dora, Fla.; three brothers, Jim Miller of Cairo, Tom Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; and George Miller of Tyler, Tx; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Griner of Bainbridge, Ga. and Mrs. Ruby Teat of Del Rey Beach, Fla.
Obituary of Wyatt Fountain Stoudenmire as written on page 5 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 11 May 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Brothers and other relatives here in Camilla of Mr. Wyatt Fountain Stoudenmire, of Deland, Fla., are sympathizing with them in Mr. Stoudenmire's death which came about daybreak Friday morning, May 4, at a hospital in Deland where he had been confined for the past ten or twelve weeks. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Deland. Interment followed in Deland. Going from Camilla to attend the final rites were his brothers, Mr. John F. Stoudenmire and Mr. Thad Stoudenmire, and close relatives including Mr. Joe Barber Adams and daughter, Barbara Ann Adams, Mr. James Lee Adams, Mr. Lee Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Collins. The deceased was born on April 5th, seventy-nine years ago, in Russell County, Alabama, the son of the late Charles W. and Mattie Elizabeth White Stoudenmire. Walter Stoudenmire, now residing in Sanford, Fla., was the first of the family to move to Georgia. In 1903 he came to Flint to work as clerk in the Douglas Collins store. John F. Stoudenmire, now of Camilla, went to Flint in 1904 as bookkeeper for G. A. Cochran. In 1905 Mr. Wyatt Stoudenmire, his brother, and other members of the family came from Russell County to Flint with Mr. Wyatt serving also as clerk in the Douglas Collins store. After several years they moved to Camilla with Mr. Wyatt going to work for Union Supply Company, a position he held until he moved to Florida and joined the Piggly Wiggly grocery chain in the Deland store. This he did and after some few years opened his own grocery in Deland. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Emma Lou Adams of Camilla; three sons, Aubrey, Frank, and Truitt of Deland; three brothers, John F. and Thad of Camilla and Walter of Sanford, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Marty Hasty of Macon, and Misses Docie and Josie Stoudenmire of Sanford; a group of grandchildren and a great grandchild also survive.

Rigsby, widely prominent and beloved retired minister who also held extensive farming interests in the county, died at the age of 83 yesterday (Thursday) morning at 5:00 A.M. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Hatcher, in Doerun. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4:00 P.M. at Pebble City Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. G. T. Hunt of Graceville, Fla., and Rev. M. D. Reed of Camilla assisting. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Roy Beasley, Rudolph, Randolph and A. T. Rigsby, Jr., Levon Thomas, Jimmy Thomas. Obituary of Lee Alvin "Buddy" Shiver as written on page 8 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 8 Jun 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for Lee Alvin (Buddy) Shiver, 43, of Bainbridge were held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Seminole County. Mr. Shiver died unexpectedly at his residence Wednesday following a heart attack. A native of Mitchell County, he had resided in Bainbridge for the last 10 years and was employed as a contractor and painter. He was a veteran of World War II; a member of American Legion Post 62 and a member of the West Street Baptist Church, Bainbridge. Conducting the services were the Rev. Cecil Brock and the Rev. W. H. Collins. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery with Ivey Funeral Home in charge. Active pallbearers were Randolph A. Jones, Doffice Palmer, Jake Shiver, Thurman Shiver, J. O. Bullard, Woodrow Brooks, Tommy Argo, S. N. Cox, L. E. Lynn, Rastus Bishop, Ralph Ezell, Roy Godwin, Jimmy Segler, Robert Durden, Earl Alday, Jimmy Wells, Richard Boatwright, Norman Sellars and R. C. Connell. Mr. Shiver was born in Mitchell County on November 8, 1902, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shiver. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Braswell Shiver, a daughter, Bonnie Elizabeth Shiver, and a stepdaughter, Jo Ann Carpenter, all of Bainbridge; two brothers, George C. Shiver of Bainbridge and William Henry Shiver of Quitman; and a sister, Mrs. Bill Colvin of Camilla.
Obituary of Reid Howard Ivey as written on page 5 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 15 Jun 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Jun 13, at 3:00 P.M. at Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla for Reid Howard Ivey, age 60, who died at the hospital in Homestead, Fla., at about 11:00 A.M. Sunday, June 10, following a lengthy illness. Rev. Charles Duncan, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the rites and interment followed in the Ivey lot in Oakview Cemetery. Virgil Holton, close friend of the family, joined the following nephews of the deceased in serving as pallbearers: Joe Burson, Griffin and Ike Newberry, Jr. of Arlington, Jeff and Buddy Davis of Camilla, and Brackett Hardy of Albany. The deceased was born sixty years ago in Mitchell County, the son of the late Leonard and Ida Taylor Ivey, at the old Ivey home place several miles north of Camilla and now occupied by the George Burson family. When a young man of about twenty-five or thirty years of age he left Camilla to go to Homestead, Fla. He spent his remaining years there working in connection witht he Gulf Oil Company of Miami. Mr. Ivey was never married. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. George Burson Sr., of Camilla, and Mrs. A. R. Livingston of Homestead; one brother, Gordon Ivey, also of Homestead.
Obituary of David Warner Fitzgerald as written on page 7 of "The Camilla Enterprise" (Camilla, Georgia) dated 6 Jul 1956 and in "The Albany Herald" dated 29 Jun 1956 (Albany, Georgia). Funeral services for David Warner Fitzgerald, 72, of Baconton, who died June 28, shortly after being taken to the hospital in Albany, were held Saturday afternoon at four o'clock at the Camilla Methodist Church. The Rev. C. L. Roberson, of Baconton, was in charge of the services and was assisted by the Rev. N. H. Williams, of Camilla. Interment followed in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla. Serving as pallbearers were McCulley Harris of Albany, John M. Maples, James H. Branch, Roger Brown, Raymond Miller and Cecil Bass. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fitzgerald would have celebrated his seventy birthday this last Sunday July 1. He was born in Mitchell County, the son of the late Thomas and Emma Fitzgerald. In early life he was happily married to Miss Meta Sellers, daughter of the late Thomas and Susie Sellers. A large group of children were born to this union. She died on May 17, 1933, and several years later Mr. Fitzgerald was again happily married to the former Miss Katie Mae Culpepper. She survives along with the seven daughters, Mrs. E. R. Wingate of Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. J. S. Padgett of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Gordon Collins of Baconton, Mrs. E. H. Carter of Haines City, Fla., Mrs. J. L. Piland of Pelham, Miss Maida Fitzgerald of Albany, and Mrs. H. C. Smith Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sons, W. F. Fitzgerald of St. Petersburg, Fla., C. H. Fitzgerald of the United States Navy and Ernest W. Fitzgerald of Camilla; twenty-eight grand children and twenty great grand children; one brother, J. B. Fitzgerald of Albany and one sister, Mrs. J. C. deGraffenreid of Camilla. As a young man, and while all his children were growing up Mr. Fitzgerald was connected with the City of Camilla and headed up the Street & Sanitary Department. Around 1940 he severed his connection with the city and became a state revenue officer. When the present state administration went into office he changed jobs, becoming a deputized officer of the Mitchell County Sheriff's office. He had this job until his death. Late last summer and fall he broadened service as a deputized officer of the sheriff to help the Mitchell County Health Department enforce the rabies control program. Mr. Fitzgerald was an honorary member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and was a member of the Baconton Baptist Church.

Obituary of William Frederick Eason as written on page 9 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 22 Jun 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for William Frederick Eason were conducted Sunday morning at the Methodist Church in Cobbtown. Mr. Eason died Thursday in the Veterans Hospital in Augusta following an illness of one year. He was born April 1, 1913, and had been a lifelong resident of Baconton, except for five years spent in the U. S. Army in World War II. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Joseph Rucker of Baconton; four brothers, E. S. Eason of Camilla, H. B. Eason of Milan, R. B. and H. A. Eason of Tifton, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Miss Charlotte Daniels of Baconton. Active pallbearers were E. S. Davis, Lee A. Collins, Rufus Moxley, Henry Moxley, Harry Mulling Jr. and Charles Mulling.
Obituary of Foy Spence Betts as written on page 12 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 24 Aug 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Relatives and many friends here were saddened by the death of Mrs. W. C. Betts, formerly of Camilla, which occurred Sunday morning at 8:15 o'clock at her home in Decatur county near Bainbridge. Death came after a long period of ill health. Mrs. Betts was the former Miss Foy Spence, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Spence of Camilla. Surviving are her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Sanford of Quincy, Fla., and Mrs. M. C. Barrineau. There are several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services took place at Bettsville Church Monday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock with interment in the church cemetery. Futch died Tuesday, Sept. 4, at his home in Hinsonton following a lengthy illness. He was 70 years of age. Mrs. Nova Crosby Jones Davis, age 65, died at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock following a brief illness. Funeral services took place at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at five o'clock with the Rev. H. N. Earnest in charge and the Rev. Charles C. Duncan of Camilla assisting. Interment was in the church cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Julian Rivers, Theodore Palmer, Robert L. Hill, Weyman Holton, Ed McKeown and Jim Williford. Surviving are a son, James Jones of Mt. Dora, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Emmett Brooks of Baconton and Mrs. Mattie McClelland of Moultrie; one brother, W. B. Crosby of Sale City; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Davis, the former Miss Nova Crosby, was the daughter of the late Samuel E. Crosby and Ardiemishia Adams Crosby, pioneer Mitchell Countains. She was twice married, her first husband, a Mr. Jones, lived and died in this county. Her second husband, the late Edgar Davis, preceded her in death some years ago. In recent years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. John L. Bettison. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was active in church and community affairs until ill health came.
Obituary of Milton Park Collins as written on page 2 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 9 Nov 1956. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services were held in Camilla Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at Bramlett Funeral Home Chapel for Milton P. Collins, age 56, who was killed along with his wife in an automobile-truck accident taking place near Athens, Ga., Thursday morning. Mr. Collins and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Wilcher Collins, were both killed instantly in the accident, investigating officers reported. Funeral services for Mrs. Collins were held Monday afternoon at three o'clock in Covington, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Collins, who had resided in Alexandria, Virginia, for some years, were killed when a huge tractor-trailer left its line of traffic and smashed into their automobile. State troopers Harlan Duncan and Joe Lee, investigating officers, said the wreck took place about one half mile outside the city limits of Athens on US 29 and 79 at about 10:55 A.M. They quoted the driver of the truck, Leo Davenport, Athens Negro, as saying a car ahead of him stopped suddenly and he swung out of line to avoid it. The tractor-trailer smashed head on into the Collins car. Davenport was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and not having his vehicle under control. He will also face grand jury action. Following funeral services Sunday for Mr. Collins here in Camilla where he was born and reared interment took place in Oakview cemetery. Mr. Collins was born and reared in Mitchell County, and had left this area about 35 years ago. He and Mrs. Collins made their home in Arlington, Va., where he was an adjuster for the Federal Internal Revenue Department. They were both active in civic affairs, and were members of the Arlington First Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Collins was a son of the late Louis and Josie Collins, pioneer Mitchell County residents. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. K. Phillips of Jacksonville, Fla., and Miss Julia Collins of Atlanta; three brothers, Paul H. Collins of Albuquerque, N. M., and Jim Collins and Gordon Collins, both of Baconton. Mrs. Collins is survived by three brothers, Jerry Wilcher of Brooklyn, N. Y., John Wilcher and Tom Wilcher, both of Covington, Va.

Mr. Clark was born and raised in Mitchell County, and was a member of the Sale City First Baptist Church. He was employed as a clerk in the shoe department of a Camilla department store. A victim of acute leukemia for the past six weeks, most of which time he was hospitalized, Julius Clark, 59, of Sale City, died at about five o'clock Wednesday morning, January 2, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. He had developed pneumonia the day before and died shortly afterwards. Mr. Clark had spent the past fifteen years as a clerk at Feingolds, The Big Store, in Camilla. Born and reared in Mitchell County, he had many friends all over the county who were shocked at news of his passing. It was just about three weeks ago that doctors diagnosed the case as leukemia. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, Thursday, at three o'clock at the Sale City Baptist Church, the Rev. Otis Glover, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the Sale City cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla had charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were members of the Board of Deacons of the church and a large honorary escort was formed of friends of the deceased. Mr. Clark was born fifty-nine years ago in Mitchell County, the son of the late Lee Clark and Artie Missy Crosby Clark. He was a member of the Sale City Baptist Church a number of years, member of the Board of Deacons, and was serving as Assistant Sunday School Board of Trustees. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Julia Mae Griner; stepmother, the former Miss Ethel Cox, now living in Lorida, Fla.; five daughters, Mrs. Lee Savage of Silver Springs, Maryland, Mrs. Jean Bultman of Minnesota, Miss Ann Clark of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Jake Goss of Sale City, and Mrs. Mack McQuillan of Miami, Fla.; four sons, Myrvin Clark of Washington, D. Obituary of Martha "Mattie" James Cochran as written on page 7 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 18 Jan 1957. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for one of Camilla's most prominent and distinguished women, Mrs. G. B. Cochran, were held Monday afternoon, January 14, at three-thirty o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Camilla. The pastor, Rev. Charles Duncan, officiated. Interment followed in Oakview Cemetery by the side of her husband who preceded her in death on November 11, 1937. Mrs. Cochran celebrated her ninetieth birthday last June 10th when her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Cochran, entertained at open house in her honor. Last fall, suffering with ill health and infirmities of age, she was carried to Keysville Convalescent Home in Keysville, Ga., sixty miles south of Augusta, where she died of heart failure near noon time Saturday, January 12. She had been ill during Christmas but apparently recovered and enjoyed a visit from her son and family on New Years. She was up and about on the day of her death and died almost immediately. The pastor, in his eulogy at the funeral services, commented that he never thought of Mrs. Cochran but that he thought of "love and sharing." The choir loft was filled with singers and one of the hymns the chose, "Trying To Walk In The Steps Of The Saviour," further testified to the gracious Christian character of the deceased. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Barber Adams, Grover Cleveland, Roby Roy Cochran, J. Harry Collins, George M. Perry, Jr. and E. J. Vann III. Mrs. Cochran was born in Clinton, North Carolina, the daughter of Robinson James and Elizabeth McArthur James. She was the former Miss Mattie James and as a young lady just finished with Teachers College she went to Thomasville to teach school. She boarded there with her cousin, Mrs. Frank Cochran, whose husband was a cousin of the late G. B. Cochran, of Camilla. It was through him that she met and married G. B. Cochran on October 26, 1893. As the wife of prominent farmer, livestock stable owner, and also president of the Planters & Citizens Bank for a long number of years, Mrs. Cochran joined her husband in taking prominent part in religious, social and civic affairs of the community. Mrs. Cochran was especially active in the old Camilla Civic League. Mrs. Cochran was the United States Air Force's very first Gold Star Mother in the State of Georgia. Her son, James Cochran, was a distinguished pilot of World War One and was killed over France. Cochran Field at Macon was built during World War II and named in honor of the Camilla Flyer. Mrs. Cochran went often to Cochran Field for a visit. Survivors include one son, A. B. Cochran of Camilla; two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Clements of Pelham and Mrs. A. W. Blanchard of Dunn, North Carolina; two brothers, O. P. James of Mexico, Missouri and H. C. James of Cushing, Oklahoma.
Obituary of J. Hand Beck as written on page 8 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 18 Jan 1957. Camilla, Georgia. Hand Beck, 64, of Martinez, Georgia, native of Mitchell County, died at University Hospital, Augusta, after an extended illness. Mr. Beck was born in Mitchell County and was the son of the late Franklin and Lydia Beck. He had lived at Martinez for the past 11 years and was employed by the C and W. C. Railroad. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Spence, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carswell Spence of Camilla, one daughter, Mrs. J. E. Meyer of Martinez, and one granddaughter, Louise Meyer, of Martinez. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Obituary of Idella "Ella" Palmer Scarborough as written on page 6 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 8 Feb 1957. Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Idella Palmer Scarborough of Pelham, died Friday, February 1, at Howard Hospital in Pelham. She was seventy years old. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at the Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Earl Childs officiating, assisted by Elder Josh Davis. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of this church. Serving as pallbearers were Wendell Howell, Palmer Smith, Lynwood Palmer, Merrell Palmer, Floyd Scarborough and Ivy Scarborough. Interment was in the church cemetery. Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Scarborough was born July 18, 1886, in Decatur County. She is survived by her husband, A. C. Scarborough; two sons, R. L. Scarborough and Lester Scarborough, both of Jeffersonville, Ga.; four brothers, Johnny Palmer, Guy Palmer, Cleve Palmer and Hansell Palmer, all of Pelham; four sisters, Mrs. Lila M. Sellers, Mrs. Ella McLeoud, Mrs. Claude Smith and Mrs. J. S. Gandy, all of Pelham.
Obituary of Charles Bunion Cross as written on page 6 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 8 Mar 1957. Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Camilla for seventy-eight year old Charles B. Cross who suffered a heart attack last Thursday shortly after receiving word of the death of his only son in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Cross died late Thursday night at Mitchell County Hospital. His wife became similarly ill after receiving the death message last Thursday and she still remains in the hospital in serious condition. Officiating ministers were the pastor, Rev. Charles Duncan, and the Rev. N. H. Williams and the Rev. Louis Spivey. Interment followed in Pelham Cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Linton Cross, age 42, of Tampa, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Cross, died suddenly Wednesday night of a heart attack and the parents were preparing to leave Thursday for Tampa when they both became ill. Mr. Cross was the son of the late Thomas J. and Louisa West Cross, pioneer citizens of Mitchell County. In early life he was engaged in business as a plumber. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla and the Woodmen of The World. Besides his wife, Mr. Cross is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John T. Herring of Camilla and Mrs. I. O. Spence of Pelham; three brothers, W. D. Cross of Camilla, J. R. Cross of Albany and Thomas B. Cross of Atlanta.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 2nd, at three o'clock at the Hinsonton Baptist Church for George Eugene Hinson, 40, who died Monday morning at 4:45 A.M. at his residence in Hinsonton. Interment was in Liberty Hill Cemetery with Rev. John N. Foreman officiating. Pallbearers were Johnny Hinson, Jack Hinson, Tommy Hinson, Lenward Williford, Jack Williford, Dawson Autry, Peter Glenn and John T. Kelly, all nephews. Braswell Funeral Home was in charge. George Eugene Hinson was born September 21, 1916 in Hinsonton community. He was the son of John D. Hinson and Mamie Rackley Hinson. He was a graduate of Pelham High School, Veteran of World War II and member of the Frank Lofley Hinson American Legion Post, Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was a hair stylist in Atlanta until ill health forced him to retire. Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ouida Wiles; four daughters, Misses Evelyn, Harriet, Eva and Georgia Hinson; five brothers, J. C. Hinson of Pelham, P. L. Hinson of Indiantown, Fla.; L. G. Hinson of Hinsonton, T. W. and H. D. Hinson of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; seven sisters, Mrs. J. D. Autry of Hinsonton, Mrs. E. B. Johnson of McIntosh, Fla., Mrs. J. T. Kelly Jr. of Moultrie, Miss Lucille Hinson of Hinsonton, Mrs. William Zachman of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Ernest Mayer of White Plains, New York, and Mrs. J. W. Glenn of Cotton.
Obituary of Rosa Gray Smith as written on page 6 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 12 Apr 1957. Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Rosa gray Smith, 60, of Hapeville and Camilla, passed away in Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, early Tuesday morning, following a very brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, at the Hopeful Baptist Church where she had been a life long member. Rev. W. H. Rittenhouse, pastor, Dr. Stanley R. Hahn, pastor of First Baptist Church in Cairo and John Warr, administrator of the Georgia Baptist Children's Home officiated. Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were L. B. Gray, George Gray, Marvin Crosson, Wallace Worsham, Roland B. Richards, Pope Gray, J. O. Howell and Lonnie Gray. Interment was in the family plot in Hopeful Cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She is survived by three sons, George T. Smith of Cairo; Truett Smith of Washington, D. C.; and Pat Smith of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Mrs. J. L. Shirah of Camilla; six brothers, O. C., W. T., and Paul Gray of Camilla; W. E. Gray of Memphis, Tenn.; Earl Gray of Quincy, Fla.; and Dewey Gray of Albany; three sisters, Mrs. O. Howell of Albany, Mrs. Z. J. Worsham and Mrs. M. P. Crosson of Camilla and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was born and reared in Mitchell County, the daughter of Pat Augusta and Sallie Gaulden Gray. She was married to George C. Smith who preceded her in death in March 1949. For the past seven years she had been house mother at the Georgia Baptist Children's Home in Hapeville.

Charlie Hubert Whitley, native of Mitchell County, died at the Medical Center in Columbus Wednesday night, April 3, at 10 o'clock following a four years illness. Funeral services took place Friday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock at Strissled-Hamby Chapel. Rev. Byram Glaze, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus. Pallbearers were W. B. King, Bobby Brown, Paul Ballou, W. W. Minter, L. J. Newman and C. F. Slaughter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dochia Whitley, three brothers, J. L. Whitley of Albany; W. R. Whitley of Pelham; Reese Whitley of Columbus; four sisters, Mrs. M. E. Broadaway, Mrs. Myrtice Butler, Mts. Ethel Shirah, and Mrs. Cleve Cranford of Pelham and several nieces and nephews. Born Sept. 17, 1904 in Meigs, Mr. Whitley was the son of the late Charlie Woolard and Annie Lawson Whitley.
