1870: Susannah West was alive 1874 as she provided affidavit for Anna Jane Thomas WEST in Anna Jane's application for widow's pension. Can anyone locate her for me?
1874: Mitchell Co., GA W9318 and W6523 Widow's application for pension: Anna Jane Thomas WEST, widow of William WEST (brother of Gibson) filed for pension based on War of 1812 service of William, her late spouse. Affidavits found in this application establish relationship of Gibson WEST to William WEST (brothers) and Gibson and William to James WEST (Uncles/nephew). Susannah's marriage to Gibson is established; Anna Jane's maiden name, her marriage and place of marriage (1814 Bladen Co., Rev. James CRUMADAY/CRUMEDY) to William are established.
5/21/1874: In a deposition by Susan WEST, 75 years of age, she declared that she had made her home with William and Anna Jane WEST for a considerable time during her girlhood. She well remembers that William WEST was absent in the service during the War of 1812 after he was married and his return. She had always lived in the same neighborhood with the applicant, save a few years that the applicant preceded her to GA. William WEST was the older brother of her husband, Gibson WEST, who was also in the service and received a wound in the knee. She was not married at that time. Susan claimed that she had always lived in the same neighborhood as Anna Jane (THOMAS) WEST and even had lived with William and Anna Jane for some time during her childhood. She claimed that William and Anna Jane preceded her to GA. From the census of 1820 we see that Gibson WEST and Susan Unknown were living in Burke Co., GA without any children so they were married probably about 1819. Furthermore, Susannah stated that her oldest child was five months younger than Anna Jane's third child.
