Jon Noah Enoch TYLER married Comfort LEWIS in Jasper Co, GA, in 1826.
After their marriage, Enoch and Comfort lived in Meriwether Co. (near her family?) and the
first nine of their 14 children were born there. I believe her parents to have been Samuel
LEWIS and Ellen ----. I do not know the names of Enoch's parents, but suspect he might
have been the son of Owen TYLER and Priscilla CHESTNUTT born in the Fayette District of
Anson County, NC. I note that there was an Owen TYLER living in Jasper County at this
time. In the 1840s, it appears that Enoch and his wife moved their family to Shelby

Looking for any information on the SMITH family who settled briefly in
Meriwether County ca 1825. The head of the family was referred to as Grandsir by members
of the family and his children were William SMITH and Daniel SMITH. The elder SMITH made
his way from Virginia to North Carolina where William was born and then on to Edgefield
County, South Carolina where William married Aletha PADGET. Many members of the family
were said to settle in Meriwether. I am especially interested in the time the family spent
in Meriwether County.William and Aletha moved on to Crawford County Georgia and this is my
direct line. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Looking for anyone who might have knowledge of Samuel Coleman died in
Meriwether Co in 1837. He was survived by 2nd wife Sally Evans Coleman and the following
children: Cassandra, Samuel Jr., Humphrey, Hibernia E., and Eaton. Possibly a daughter
named Adeline also. Samul arrived in Meriwether after drawing in the 1827 Lottery. Before
that he lived for seven years in Walton Co., GA. He came from Greene Co., GA where he and
his first wife Martha own land. She must have died by 1805 when he married Sally 7-4-1805.
He passed through Morgan Co, and settled in Walton. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary
War. Cassandra married John Benton, Hibernia married William H. P. Adams, eaton married
Susan Ogden and the possible Adeline married a Daniel Jenkins. No info on Samuel or
Humphrey. I hope that some on may have futher information. Thanks,

My grandma was Gertrude Hamby. She died in Carroll Co. GA around 1958 but was born (I
believe) in Meriwether Co. around 1868 and married Thomas Augustus Hipp, who was born
8/14/68 and died 10/15/1923. I would appreciate any information you can furnish on
Gertrude's birth date, her parents and siblings as well as her grandparents. Also Thomas'
siblings and birth/death dates. Thank you very much for any help you may give.
