On Monday, October 27th, 1913, God in His all wise Providence, saw fit to take from our midst our beloved president, Mrs. Bessie Hull McCown.
We cannot say, we will not say
That she is dead, she is just away,
With a radiant smile, and a wave of the
hand
She has entered into that unknown land;
And left us wondering how very fair
That land must be since she lingers
there
While we do not question the wisdom of Him who makes no mistakes, and know that our loss is her eternal gain, our hearts ore overwhelmed with sorrow, and we, the ladies of the Merriwether [sic] Div. No. 321 of G. I. A., desire to put on record our love and appreciation for her, whose enthusiastic interest has been a beautiful example for us to follow.We as a Society, therefore, resolve:-
FIRST That while we deplore the loss of our beloved Sister, we bow in humble submission to Gods will, knowing that He doeth all things well, and thank Him for her life and the work He permitted her to do among us.
SECOND That we hold in remembrance her example and will endeavor to continue the work she so much loved, in such a manner as would meet her approval.
THIRD That we tender to the sorrowing family our heartfelt sympathy, and commend them to the Father of all mercies, Who alone can comfort their hearts,
FOURTH That a copy of these resolutions be spread on the record of our Society, a copy be sent to the sorrowing family, and a copy to the Manchester Mercury.
