SUMMER, WASHINGTON posted by Becky Dozier on Thursday, June 11, 1998

I am looking for ANY information on a William Turner Washington who was born abt 1882 in Madison Co., Ga. He married Esther Summer in Lake City Fla. about 1918/19. According to some of Esther's relatives, Turner Washington died while his 2 daughters were small--1925-1935. I have researched the death certificates in Fla and Ga. and I can not find any death certificate for this man in either state from 1925-1940.. Of course, in Fla I had to pay them to do this research, but they told me there was not one for this time period. On Doris WAshington (b. 2/2/1922in Bibb Co., Ga) birth certificate her father was a "Cook." I know that he worked in the ship yard in Jacksonville, Fla for a while. I have not been able to locate the family after they left Macon, Bibb Co,. Ga. and Doris refused to talk about her father at all. She passed away with out ever talking or discussing him. For some reason, I am not sure he actually died when I was told, but maybe ther family separated??? Are you familiar with this Washington family who was living in Madison Co., Ga. in 1882? Thank you for any clues giving.

CAROUTH, CARROUTH, CARRUTH posted by Harvey Carrouth on Saturday, June 20, 1998

Looking for the gravesites and/or other information about my ancestors Robert Carruth, Adam Carruth, James Elbert Carruth (or Carouth), and Robert Asbury Carrouth (also may be known as Carouth). Robert moved to this area by 1794. He died in May 1815 (was born in 1746). He bought land originally in Wilkes County but due to new counties being created, I believe the land was finally in Madison County said to be on Blue Stone Creek near the present border of Madsion and Oglethorpe Counties. Adam was born in about 1773 and died in 1840 in Madison County. He was said to be known as the, "Bell Maker," and ran a mill called Carruths Mill. James Elbert Carruth (Carouth or Carrouth)was born in 1814 and died in about 1850. He lived at or near Ft. Lamar at the time of his death and had seven sons. The sons along with their mother, Harriet Nance (Andrew) Carruth or variation, show up on the 1850 census using the surname Carouth and four of the sons show up on the 1870 census using the surname Carrouth. My Great Great Grandfather was a son of James Elbert Carruth and his name was Robert Asbury Carrouth, also known as Pa Bob by family. He was born in 1846 and died in 1922. His gravesite may be near Bowman (his son, Thomas Sanford Carrouth, also known as Pa Tom by family, was born in 1871 in Bowman and died in Royston in 1943). Any information you may be able to give me will be most greatfully appreciated. Harvey Carrouth

Back in the 1930's a Bullock Family Bible was in the possession of Mr. Nathaniel (N.C.) Bullock in Danielsville, Georgia who was born April 11, 1882. Does anybody have information to who owns this bible now? I would love the opportunity to see it. I do know that N.C. had at least one child, Sara Lou Bullock who lived in Columbus, Georgia in 1939.
