This file was transcribed from a typed copy at the Lumpkin Co. library. It appears that notes were added for several people. I'm not sure if any of the additional information was actually on the tombstones or not. Only the notes to the right of the dates were added by me. The rest of the file was transcribed exactly as typed. Rogers [note from Iris] 148-Rindy Blackwell (negro) 108 years old March 29, 1913 She was the last slave to be buried in the old Wahoo cemetery. No other Slaves have markers. This old Cemetery was evidently started about 1819. Named Wahoo for an old Indian Chief Wahoo. Originally in Hall county when it was formed in 1818, with no western boundry, later cut off into Lumpkin county when it was formed in 1832. This is only a small part of the cemetery. Many graves are marked with Soapstone markers carved to fit with precision of a carpenter with wood. Many are without markers and have been abandoned without trace.
