I am researching the COLEMAN Family in the Milner area and upon arriving at the cemetery, I have discovered two COLEMAN families. The family of Dr. Young Rufus Coleman is that of my gr-gr-uncle. It is the other family of William Edwin Coleman b. 1832 d. 1910 that I am curious about. I would love to share information about this family since I suspect that it is a missing branch that I have been looking for.

MARTHA JANE HUDGENS/HUDGINS born 1830 Atlanta GA and WILLIAM A. (SAMUEL) MEWBORN/MEWBURN were married at the Bride's Father's House in 1850. Their daughter, MARTHA JANE MEWBORN/MEWBURN was born in 1868. She left GA by wagon train in the 1880's and went to Bright Star AR. We do not know whom she travelled with or whom she lived with before her marriage at Smith's Mill in TX in 1887 to GEORGE WASHINGTON SULLIVAN born Atlanta GA in 1866. He too left GA on the same wagon train and established residency in Queen City TX. We do not know the name of his parents, siblings, or whome he lived with before his marriage. William MEWBORN/MEWBURN was the son of Thomas MEWBORN and Francis BURDEN of Atlanta GA. They are connected to the NC MEWBORN/MEWBOORN family who came from England. There is no info in the family Bible on who Martha Jane HUDGINS/HUDGENS parents or siblings were. It is possible that that the young Martha Jane MEWBORN traveled with HUDGINS/HUDGENS family from GA. The wagon train went from Atlanta up to TN, across N AL and N MS before going to the ARK/TX area. People left the train during the trip and settled in those areas, scattering the info over several states. If you go back to GA in the 1880's to TX/AR then it's possible you may have some of my missing family history. All info is appreciated and will share what info I have on the MEWBORN family and the siblings of Martha Jane Mewborn. Also the names of the Sullivan children born to Martha and George Washington SULLIVAN. Thank you!

KENNEDY, HENRY b. 1820-25 in possibly Lamar (Barnesville, GA), Monroe, Pike or Upson Counties. Married a woman from IN named Anna HAWKINS. They bore a son Alfred on April 28, 1845 in GA. Later they migrated to IN.

I am seeking any information on the KENNEDY or STALLINGS families. They were both listed in the first census of Monroe Co. Some of these descendants moved west to Texas following the Civil War and some remained in Georgia. One descendant, John Luthur Kennedy, was twice a mayor of Barnesville and his wife was the namesake for the community of Aldora.

SMITH, William R., b c 1830, d. 06 August 1862 of fever outside Richmond, Virginia during Civil War. Married Rovarches L. (maiden name unknown) b. 20 July 1830, d. 13 April 1911. They lived in Pike (now Lamar) Co. across from New Hope Church. Neighbors with MILNER's. Rovarches never remarried and raised 3 children so I suspect she had other family near by. TAYLOR-WARD: John W. J. TAYLOR (1824-1898) married Amanda Melvina F. WARD (ca. 1825-Dec. 1850). Amanda died giving birth to twin daughters, Amanda Melvina (Mellie), who married a Mr. McKINLEY and died in 1875, and Charlotte Elizabeth, who married Iverson MIDDLEBROOKS and died in 1925. The twins were raised in Barnesville by their aunt, Charlotte TAYLOR DUMAS, wife of Thomas DUMAS. I have not been able to find a marriage or burial record for Amanda WARD TAYLOR, nor do I know where in Georgia she was born, for on Charlotte MIDDLEBROOKS' death certificate, the line for mother's birthplace reads "unknown." The only clue I have comes from a letter dated 1865 which Mellie Taylor wrote from Barnesville to her sister Charlotte in Monroe Co., in which she writes "Granny W. sends her love." So Amanda's mother was living in or near Barnesville in 1865. Can anyone supply any of the missing pieces here?
