James Roy Rowland Jr MD, Another professional man whose education was interrupted by service in WWII was Dr James Roy

Rowland Jr, now practicing medicine in Dublin.  After military service he returned to his native state to complete his medical studies.

In the past few years he has identified himself with the club life and community efforts in his chosen city, Dublin.

Dr Rowland was born Feb 3, 1926 in Wrightsville.  He was the son of the late James Roy Rowland Sr who was born in Wrightsville,

Nov 18,1899 and died there on Mar 15, 1956.  Mr Rowland Sr served as solicitor of the Court of Johnson County and was Judge of the

Superior Court of Dublin Judicial District.  Mrs James Roy Rowland St was born in Wrightsville, attended LaGrange College and is

now supervisor of the Johnson County Welfare Dept.  Dr Rowland attended public schools in Wrightsville and graduated from high

school in 1943.  He entered Emory at Oxford but his education was interrupted at the time by two years of military duty.  Dr Rowland

served from April 1944 to May 1946, in the infantry.  He was engaged in combat during two campaigns and awarded the Bronze

Star.  In 1946, he entered South Georgia College at Douglas, then transferred to the University of Georgia, taking his degree in Augusta in 1952.

His intern work was done at Macon, where he remained for approximately two years before moving to Swainsboro.  Six months

practice of general medicine in that town preceded his move to Dublin, where he opened an office for the practice of general medicine

and surgery.
